FL question: Can you change the midi channel of an instrument (NOT the note color)?

Afaik the midi channel is the vertical position of a track (in pattern view)...
And to change the channel you move the track up or down.

I want to play several instruments in ONE piano roll.
In ASS plugs like Tassman i can change the Midi Channel from Omni to 1.
Then set up another instance of Tassman and set it's Midi channel to 2.
Then I'll make a Layer and set these two as children.
After that I can play both instruments in the Layer's Piano Roll by changing the note colors
The problem is that i can do this only with ASS plug ins because they have the option to change the midi channel. How can I change the midi channel with other instruments then?

Have you tried what I said?rewer wrote:How can I change the midi channel with other instruments then?
e.g.
instrument on track 1 = midi channel 1
instrument on track 2 = midi channel 2
layer on track 3 = midi channel 3
Switch their vertical position to change channel.

And without a layer? If you draw a note with channel 2 colour in track 1's piano roll?

as w/ most things FLS , there is usually more than one way to accomplish most goals ...
i can think of a few different ways to do what you want ...
the simplest would be to insert the FLS vsti ( multi ) on the channel you want to use ...
this, i believe, is what T-CM11 was attempting to articulate ...
each of the 16 available channels contained therein correspond to the appropriate midi channel ...
the FLS wrapper only allows you to set the midi ports , not the midi channels ...
• some vsti ( AAS, as you've noted, kontakt, reaktor, absynth, and others ) allow you to set the midi input channel ...
• some vsti do not allow you to set the midi input channel ... for these , there are workarounds ...
if you are willing to give up your insistence that this must all be controlled from one channel ,
i can tell you a completely different way to do the same thing ...

i got your PM ...rewer wrote:What other way could there be? tell me about it.
i'm considering my response ...
at least you showed a modicum of manners , in your PM , which is a good thing ,
as i was completely underwhelmed by your response in this thread ...
you make absolutely no mention of having tried my suggestion ...
i've no idea whether it helped you , or if you got it to work , or if you
even understood what i said ...
why is this so important ?...rewer wrote:I want to play several instruments in ONE piano roll.
