That said, if the alleged newsletter doesn't ever arrive, you could log it as a bug, although they'll likely claim it was working as expected - nothing exciting happened.braj wrote: In the spirit of 'full disclosure' here is more from the email:
Thank you for subscribing to the Bitwig newsletter! We'll let you know when something exciting happens.

Still though, I don't really know if it would be a good idea for me to be on the beta team. I'm too demanding. I expect mind blowing OMG OMG OMG, and they my simply not be able to deliver

Yes, i saw that.SLiC wrote:Yes, he was Abletons 'technical support manager' and fairly high profile....just left.ChiTown24 wrote:if im not mistaken dom wilms was the head of ableton support {up until very recently i guess ?}
the plot thickens !
There won't be anyone left at Ableton but the accountants soon....
I find it hard to believe people like this would leave Ableton if (a) live 9 was about ready and a killer update and (b) bigwig was vapourware.
I would imagen pele like Dom have seen the status of both products and made a career decision based on what thy have seen.
......or they just offered him a seat by a window
Quite surprising...
I don't know if i should take that as a good or a bad news. In any case, announcing the venue of an ex-Abletonite a couple of days only after the ABleton sale makes me think that Live9 is really not around the corner at all (or, as many supposed, that BW is Live9 in disguise) ?
Will the Bitwig demo made by RObert Henke ?

And this is Jades mother who I have strapped to a gurney and won't release until I'm on the beta team.abstractcats wrote:Dear BitWig, this is Jade. She was found under(next to ) the tire of my van Saturday, you may use her likeness(image) as your mascot, if I may be on you beta testing team!

It rubs the lotion on its fur, or else it gets the hose again...

Or maybe Bitwig is just a company that will be merged with Ableton as Live 9 comes out, as Bitwig Studio actually is Live 9....?
There is something illogical about Bitwig as an independent product (as in competitor to Live). Why announce it so long before it's even in beta, when at the same time they won't follow up with similar announcements about its progress? (Screen shots, videos, examples...)
Maybe this whole Bitwig project is just a clever market scan to get reactions and viral publicity...?

I like where you're taking this. Maybe this is a marketing pincer movement by Ableton - they flush out potential traitors by matching beta testers to their data base.decalogue wrote:SLiC wrote:Yes, he was Abletons 'technical support manager' and fairly high profile....just left.ChiTown24 wrote:if im not mistaken dom wilms was the head of ableton support {up until very recently i guess ?}

Maybe when Bitwig is finished they will sell it to Ableton? Balloon payment rather than try to manage a business bigger then themselves? Do ableton has the right man power to keep fixing v8 and write v9? It looks too much like Live......

Biggest reason why it seems a stunt.
Otherwise, the political and business circus behind the scenes must be incredible.

all the conspiracy theory stuff is total nonsense.
which is more likely;; a three year long marketing stunt to launch live 9 under some codename by a phoney company that actually won a 25 grand startup grant {which would amount to defrauding the german ministry of economic affairs} , the stunt beginning before live 8 was even released.
or that some {extremely talented} employees decide to branch out for themselves.
employees branching out for themselves ? thats just crazy talk !

http://bitwig.com/company.php
maybe the conspiracy nuts just arent ableton veterans like me, and thus may not have seen how the business evolved and thus understand why maybe major talent would want to leave. dom especially deserves some kind of medal for having to be the head of support, and his loyalty for sticking it out with live 8 for all this time. that has to be the I.T. equivalent of unclogging the sewers that service a leper colony with a perpetual case of diarrhea. in fact if i would join folks in speculation mode i would say that live 9 is actually very very close, he probably committed himself to stay until live 8 was ready to be superceded by 9.
i hope you can put these ludicrous ideas to rest now!
