No I'm using Art Teknica Console.
Works "relatively" well , with a vst adapter inside foobar.
At least better than other solutions I tried.

I would add to the list the "After" plugin, wich also has a 40k Air (Aero) effect.

I like the H82 bbe vst ( using 3.3 khz frequency, and very small amount).
I found it's nice to "add air" or get a "focused image".
Unfortunately after some time I find it artificial, and especially fatiguing (more sound pressure for nothing).

Could someone suggest a better alternative , to get an "airy" effect ?

thanks

note: it's for headphone listening
I don't get it. Do you mean that ALL the stuff you listen to has unsufficient high frequency content for you? In that case you could have a hearing-impairment. Or am i not understanding your question correctly?
Buy Darling Sister's new album "Rise and fall" now! Just send a pm or an email. Visit our myspace page on www.myspace.com/darlingsister for songsamples.

the spl vitalizer does a similar job to the bbe, but with much more subtlety and more control options.

That looks incredibly interesting.

But does 40k Aero mean that you add level at the sampling frequency increasing the amount of remnants/artifacts from that?

Or are you upsamling first?

No, I've tailored a dsp chain for headphone listening.
I noticed that that adding a small hint of h82 exciter , helped to get a more "focused" image, that it sounded less "on your face", and made also sometimes the highs "more pleasant". Unfortunately, no matter how small was the amount of the h82 effect, on some tracks it was just unbearable / not natural.
So I looked for a better alternative of this effect.
I've finally managed to get something interesting with the spl transient designer restricted to middle channel, and high freq band.

I suggest using better headphones instead.

I have a whole collection.
Some people are experimenting with different source / cable;
I'm experimenting with dsp.

No upsampling, just s.f. increase, the same methode as Maag EQ does.
It's also a proof of hear-concept that anyone can hear above 20k ;)
Also available in the CS12M Mastering plugin.

I like to use Variety of Sound's Baxter EQ on my master effects strip or while mastering. It adds "air" without sounding nasty.

Air is not about boosted treble, but better defined highs.
Perhaps a difference between mid and side , give an illusion of more "focused".

My point of view is that if it doesn't model non-linearities, it's not worth using, as you can replicate virtuaally ANY EQ with gliss eq or any other parametric eq, for that matter, without sacrificing the " EASY WORKFLOW".. YMMV
Hahahahah you do realise you are on KVR right, where a new EQ is much more than just an EQ hahahaha, if its an EQ its and EQ, if it does other stuff fine, but an EQ is an EQ (Then again a shiny UI sounds sooooooooo nice hahahaha)

Maybe what you want is an Exciter. Terry West has (had) one called exactly that: Exciter. It does wonderful things to your highs. I think air's overrated anyway....

Oh great, just realized that Terry West plugins are all free .
Will take a look. His famous relife, encountered lot of skepticism at hydrogenaudio, and I guess it will be worse, when he claims he has a plugin that can generate audible content above 20k. :D
So far I think the SPL transient designer + crossover combination beat every exciter I tried, including bbe.

Air is not just a fashion, an open headphone has more "air" on the sound than a closed one. Trying to imitate this with dsp is a different matter. :D
