so i got some native reverb plugins, the csr hall one which i totally love and thats it, but i read a lot about the valhalla reverb and just tested it, the gui looks not attractive and cheap but if the sound is right it doesnt matter much right? so would you say it is the only plugin you will need for reverbs? i especially want also plate reverb and biiiiiiiiiig spacy reverbs for dark ambient and more. of course other types for snares, vocals and more. |

I've demoed ValhallaRoom and ValhallaShimmer. Bother were stunning, and was especially amazed by the big beautiful spaces you could get with Shimmer.
I had already purchased Breeze and Aether before trying the Valhalla reverbs or I probably would have just purchased ValhallaRoom and ValhallaShimmer. In any case, I think the best reverb is the one you really learn to use. Seems like Valhalla interfaces are well laid out. I have ValhallaÜberMod and love it. |

I highly recommend you try the demos and hear for yourself. No substitute for trying them |

For me personally I could never only have an algorithm based reverb. If I did... I'm not sure if ValhallaRoom would be it, but it's pretty damn great for the price. I use Virsyn's Reflect because it's a perfect blend of convolution and algorithm based reverb and very flexible. It's also the best one I've tested for under $200. ---- Zerocrossing Media http://www.zerocrossing.net 4th Law of Robotics: When turning evil, display a red indicator light. ~[ ●_● ]~ |

I liked vahlalaroom reverb because it's non-fatiguing, no "ringing", or harsh highs .Always smooth.
If you put a very "in your face" track/ sound, vahlalaroom manage quite easily to tame this, and create a natural soundstage. It's relatively intuitive, and I found great that you can set decay time for bass, mids, and highs separately. The vst has ton of algorithm especially if you are looking for "dark ambient". I tried other reverb, and they do not sound same. |

Love Valhalla Room, but plates are not its strong point. If you buy it and need some plate sounds, get the free Reverberate LE convo. reverb and load it with some of the very good plate IRs that are out there. |

My first impression of VRoom's GUI was similar to yours. It looked like it was designed by Mattel. But after using it for a while I soon came to the opposite conclusion: I absolutely love the Valhalla GUIs. You will find that they are conducive to very quickly dialing in a sound, which is almost as important as the sound itself (which, of course, is every bit as good as everyone says!). Could it be your only reverb? Maybe. Sometimes, though, the application calls for a convolution reverb. But if I had to, I could live with ValhallaRoom as my only reverb. |

ValhallaRoom is the nicest reverb I've ever used. It sounds absolutely amazing, the GUI is awesome, it's very, very flexible, the support is great....
It's basically the only reverb I use. I just sometimes use Eos for plates and Shimmer for special effects stuff. The only way for you to find out if you like it is to try the demos though. No one can tell you if VRoom and/or Shimmer are what you want. Edit: I also sometimes use ÜberMod as a reverb Mainly for weird reverse-tape-grain-pitch-chorus-reverbs Cheers Dennis ---- Back from the dead - Sorry if I didn't answer your mails/PM/whatever during the last few months. Fwiw, reverbs are like synths, they have their own character.
I'd really recommand you demo different reverbs and compare them on identical sources. ( A snare, a guitar, a rhodes, vocals, strings, orchestral stuff, or just the instruments you use in your music if it dont include some of the above ) If you find that one can do it all, its fine you have just found you ideal reverb. If you come to the conclusin, like me, that they sound different and have a distinct sound, then you'll just have to choose the "best" ........ for you, while probably keeping in mind that a second, then eventually third etc, "best reverb" wont harm if the wallet is reinitialised in the future. ---- www.lelotusbleu.fr Soundbanks for Vsti 5000+ Instruments for 23 Vstis, 8 Sound Designers, Hours of audio Demos. Valhalla = very usable, no clutter, re-sizable PRO GUI CRS = eye candy for amateurs Just my opinion |

If you want a 1 stop shop for Reverb, i'd think Convolution would be the answer, with a bunch of good IR's.
I use Breverb 1 and Aether a lot, prefer them to anything else tbh, Breverb has a really nice sound for lots of different uses, but I find it shines with percussion. Aether does pretty much everything, but it shines outmost with leads, pads, when you need major reverb's tuned to perfection. I have a whole bunch of others I use too, ranging from Toraverb to Poor plate, Warmverb to Camelspace, not to mention the freeware ones I have. ---- Forward ever, Backward never |

And I love the 'Hold' function on Audio Damage Eos. Some magic can be had there. |

A nice trick is to make a nice sound, send it through Eos, press the hold button, record that and load it into a sampler Instant ambient pad awesomeness Cheers Dennis ---- Back from the dead - Sorry if I didn't answer your mails/PM/whatever during the last few months. A vocal. Use it on the end of a longish vocal phrase and you get more wonderful pad madness.
I may break down and get VRoom, though. I know the same people coded, and I REALLY appreciate the price which has been steady since it came out. I'm very much into supporting the smaller developers who put out good products at decent prices. (I want to get AD BigSeq first, tho') |
