If using a live host and you had to pick the two operating systems above which one would you pick and why?

If I had to buy it today, Win7 as it's current, but I've never had any problems with XP.
The only feature I like on Win7 is the aero graphics, I don't have a need for 64 bit OS.
There should be a poll here! And heated discussion where a few people crawl away bruised and battered.

Yeah vista in just a home setting is not great at allford442 wrote:i really think that win 7 is more stable and overall dependable.. no BSODs no virus infections no corrupted files no stuck applications..
i was very happy when i finally abandoned XP for 7 - Vista was not fun, but 7 is like it's good twin..

Don't know yet, I use 7 on my laptop but I'm running a hotroded xp64 on my music PC's. I thought It was alot faster than 7, then I installed it on an SSD and now it screams.
A minor scale is a major scale starting 3 half steps down from the major and visa versa. Any Chord has as many versions as it has notes.

On a new machine? XP isn't even an option now as driver support for a lot of the newer features doesn't exist on it.
You have to have a really, really good reason to go with XP now on a new build.

I've had a W7 system up and running for just over a year now and i've not had ONE hiccup with it. No freeze ups, no BSODs.
I'm not anal about keeping it optimal either, and my DAW is online about 16 hours a day (that's pretty much how long the machine is on every day.
Not ONE problem.
Amazing really.
Oh, and it's self built as well so theoretically less stable than it should be.

I was a latecomer to Win 7 I was on XP sp3. Installed Win 7 64bit two years ago no problems had a couple of games bomb to the desktop a few times but the OS kept running. Those games are 100% stable after some patches.
I used to reinstall XP every 6 months just to get it more reliable, fix virus damage and smooth running as day one. Win 7 64bit you just install it and forget about it.
Ableton Live 8.3 is rock solid but has a few bugs with Jbridge.
Studio One 2 64bit rock solid even with Soundtoys native running in Jbridge.
Drivers for Creative X-FI Titanium rock solid.
No Virus problems.
Free anti Virus software that uses up 5Mb RAM
Can now use upto 16GB of RAM instead of 3.5GB
It's running as fast today as it did on day one.
It uses up a bit more RAM than XP but games run smoother than on XP.
32bit software that is still supported runs perfect on Win 7 64bit.

I tried a live host the other day fresh XP 32 bit install.. and sure enough I got the host to crash when I hit MIDI routing without installing a USB-MIDI device first..
After I did it no longer crashed but I would not trust it.. Windows 7 was much better in handling it.

i've never had any problems with win7 but live is another thing entirely.
less os more machine, i have a dell laptop that if i breathe on it funny it gives up, so i'd worry more about that perspective.
i'd HATE to rely on it live.
steve.

if you have a multi core and the newest things then win7 will be the one.
