First off, I need to preface this by saying that this is an issue on my Mac. I've done my research and know that this is relatively easy to do in Windows. I am looking for the best way to do this on my Mac **without running Parallels or switching over to Windows** (no offense to Windows users, just been using Macs my whole life and am not trying to change that over an issue with the sound banks in one of my synths).
I should also disclose that I cannot use the newest beta version as I've tried and have had issues with it due to the compatibility with my OSX (Lion).
Anyways, I would really appreciate some clarification (aka help) with getting my sound banks (fxb) and presets (fxp) organized once and for all..
This is a two part question. First question, I can imagine there's a simple solution that I've overlooked. The second one is the tricky one. If you can answer one or even both, you will be my savior for the week
1. As many of you have, I've invested in many sound banks from various different sites. With that said, in my experience, I only end up liking maybe 1/3 of the sounds a particular bank offers.
So I figured that if I could at least delete the "not so good" sounds from each bank, then I wouldn't have to sift through sounds I'm not too fond of to get to the good ones. My problem? When I hit "delete preset" from the menu, the preset gets deleted.. but only TEMPORARILY. While I have Sylenth open inside my DAW (Ableton) the preset will show as deleted..BUT when I close my DAW, put my computer to sleep, shut it down, etc, the presets I had previously deleted in Sylenth are back.
The meat of my question I guess would be: How can I PERMANENTLY delete specific presets out of a bank (fxb).
2. I've done my research to the best of my ability and cannot come up with a clear answer on this one for MAC USERS.
Is there a way to create my own custom bank where I can store my "go to" sounds? If there is, I would need a process where I could move sounds from an FXB (I've only bought banks, not particular presets) to a custom created folder (or bank) that could store sounds (fxp)'s.
I don't mind getting my hands a bit dirty, so if there's a "hacky" way to do it please fill me in as I'm willing to do whatever it takes to organize these damn sounds.
If you know the answer to any of these two questions, I'm REALLY reaching out to you for some help. Sylenth1 has slowly become the Synth I use 99% of the time now and with the preset/bank issues I'm having, my workflow has slowed significantly. A solution to this would absolutely make my week! EXTREMELY good karma and gratitudes to anyone who can help me with any of these seemingly simple issues.
Hope everyone's having a great start to their week and thank you in advance for any and all replies. At this point, I can't tell you how much they'd be appreciated!
