That's where I was leaning as well.. heard and read good things about the 8V… and the Prophet with the dual synth modes and modulation options makes it a no brainer for me… Had a chance to play around with the hardware earlier… keys are a little on the light side.. maybe just a step above the m-audio axiom and the like, which I'm not a big fan of... but not as beefy as the XBoard, Akai, Edirol, Alesis QS6.1, etc. All in all, still a good deal for $220, IMO... You are correct, keys feel light, but surprisingly solid. Definitely felt better than Axiom and Axiom Pro. Quite frankly the only keyboard that felt a bit better was the Akai 88 key and Iit was a much heavier feel I think I'd get tired of. Let's not forget Aftertouch, which the Arturia has and many keyboards in this price range don't. To get 3 synths for free worth $249 each just blows me away. I've had a moog and loved it, but quite frankly Arturia's Analog Experience The Laboratory is more fun to play with given the range of synths I now get access to. I love the Prophet but the Jupiter 8V has really surprised me. I didn't expect to fall for the Jupiter like I have, and it could well end up my favorite of the bunch. |

Got it after 100's of attempts over the course of a day. It's cool to have something with limitations to get things done. Sounds cool with a dense tape echo on lead stuff. Yumm Yumm. Thanks Arturia! |

So I voted no. Now I see I should not have voted here as well. Oops, too late ---- We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. My MusicCalc is back online!! |

Actually I don't see it like that, because basic analogue subtractive synthesizers like the minimoog etc...all have a great tone, but are all very limited in variety and uniqueness in tones, which they are capable of. Digital type synths like like the M1 or WS simply gave users more variety of tones than with analogue synths, and that's why they became more popular when they were first introduced. Now with the retro vibe going on, it's tone is all important, and it's ability to have variety in tone, not important...because they simply can't create more than the analogue tones we've all heard before, from the 60's and 70's use of them. I think the presets, for all analogue emulations, sound a little "heard it many times before" vibe to them. So the tone is really what's the kick that counts. I like this synth, cuz it really shows quite clear to me, that Diva is a very big step above all other analogue emulation software. It also can produce quite a lot of unique sounds with a wider variety of tonal shades, that this and others I've tried, aren't close to yet. And it doesn't seem to matter whether they have 0 delay feedback filters, or other special features. I've heard some good things about that SEM V though. Will have to try that one out. Thanks Arturia, for showing me just how good Diva really is. |

I've kept my Alesis QS6.1 all these years because of the keys… ok, I still like and use many of the sounds on that thing, but it's really the key action that has made it difficult to trade it in... Agreed! In fact, if the 32-key job didn't have a MIDI out and AT I definately would have passed… the (old) PCR-800 doesn't have the best keybed around, but it's decent enough and has the MIDI merge feature... so the MIDI out on the Arturia is nice to have… plus the sustain and expression ports… BTW, my initial test of the Arturia wasn't even with analog experience, but rapture… in particular, the bladerunner CS80 01 preset… all the basic filter and envelope knobs were already mapped directly to the Arturia… |

Free Prophet V? Free Jupiter 8V?
They are both free to TRY. Then if you like it, save your pennies and wait for a sale. Nothing like getting an ALMOST $7000 JP8 for $200 or so |

I got it but haven't really had a chance to use it in anything yet. I was part way through putting something together for the Music Cafe contest this month, but couldn't work out how to fit it in. Next month maybe... |

agree on debatable quality of the presets, you really have to wade thru them to find the good ones. My friend has the arturias ARP vsti and its the same story with that. |

No point wading through presets when the thing is so easy to program. |

Didn't really need it, but worked like heck to get it. Glad I did. Great sound, great presets. I'll find a use for it.
Especially great since my other go-to .vsti's for this type of thing are NOT x64. And so now I've got a nice one that is. -B ---- Berfab So many plugins, so little time... |

I got it, and im glad that i did.
The synth has a very nice acoustic flavour, 'wooden' in some way, and although it isnt exactly packed with control- and modulation options, (well, its just a minimoog), one can get a lot of extremely nice sounding stuff out of it. The fact that some of the backpanel options can be controlled via host automation or alternative host UIs is an extra plus. Conclusion: It took me 4 hours to get the installer but it was absolutely worth the time. Thanks to Arturia (and of course moog) for giving us this great classic synthesizer emulation for free. |
