Hi all,

Mighty M5
Mighty M5 is a new library for Kontakt 4 and 5 made entirely with the Macbeth M5 semi-modular analog synthesizer.

The Macbeth M5 is a monophonic, three oscillator, two filter, semi-modular analogue synthesizer, crafted by master Scottish synth wizard, Ken Macbeth. These synths were made to order and are now discontinued, which makes them very rare.

The M5's sound is characterised by its full, rich bass, crystal highs and a distinctly analog tone. Even the raw waveforms sound gorgeous with no filtering or modulation. Huge basses and leads, luscious pads, electric pianos, drums, one-shot effects, and crazy modular bleeps and bloops are all included.

Cool The pack has been endorsed by the synth's creator, Ken Macbeth Cool

Details:
1.5Gb soundset
Over 4300 samples at 24-bit, 44.1 kHz quality
Over 100 Kontakt instruments

Availability and pricing
Mighty M5 costs USD $49, EUR €39 or GBP £30 inc.VAT and is available now from the Boxed Ear website.

Full version of Kontakt 4 or 5 is required. Mighty M5 does NOT work with the free Kontakt Player.

Rozzer, I've admired the M5 from afar for quite a while now, but these samples are probably the nearest I'll ever get to one Wink. I just wanted to know as it's not 100% clear, but is Boxed Ear your own project? Thanks..

kingtubby, in my bid to appear all professional I forgot to mention it Embarassed

Yes, I'm proud to say Boxed Ear is a new venture for me. The feedback has been brilliant so far. Getting an endorsement from Ken was just magic.

There will be more, I have some very tasty kit lined up for sampling Thumbs Up!

Love the sound, it has a very analog quality to it (based on the demos on your website). I'm surprised that this thread doesn't get any more attention.

BTW, when I try to load the free CR-78 rex files into my Reason's Rex-player, it says "bad format".

Hey Alex,

Thanks for the kind words Thumbs Up!

I just checked all the RX2 files from the CR-78 pack in Reason 6.5's Dr.OctoRex and they all loaded perfectly. Which version of Reason are you using? It's probably worth downloading again incase download got corrupted.

vurt!

Nice to see you Smile

Yes, WAVs are there in the pack. It would be quite a lot of work to manually map them all (there's 4000+ samples), but not impossible. A lot of the single hits and drum sounds don't need mapping particularly and are really nice.

I'm still using Reason 4, but it works in Kontakt. I guess it's time for me to upgrade to Reason 6.

One more question, are the samples of the M5 'looped' in the case where's it's desirable (strings, pads, and such)?

Hmm, I can't understand why it wouldn't work in Reason 4, which as far as my research tells me, supported rx2 files just fine. No one else has reported problems with those files so I'm at a loss (and I don't have Reason 4 to test here).

Yes absolutely. All samples are seamlessly looped where appropriate.
