This is the kind of stuff I would like to buy, but I-lock is against my philosophical principles.

Looks interesting, but rather expensive, and the iLok hassle.
At only £15 Hollow Suns Vintage Samplers seems like a better buy for these kinds of sounds.

UVI makes quality stuff, though. And their GUIs are just gorgeous!jsp1979 wrote:This is the kind of stuff I would buy (and I have an ilok), but $199 for the sounds from the 80's is against my philosophical principles.
I also have an iLok, but their prices hold me down.
They also recently did an instrument on the Emulator II...same price. Granted, it included also a DrumTracks instrument. But $200 for an 80's sound library seems just overkill.

This is most definitely of interest, but as others have said the price is a little off putting. For me it would depend on the quality, the amount of sounds and how deeply you can program your own variations.
For this type of product I would also check out retailers to see if someone carries it. I think Sweetwater carries UVI and also JRR Shop, though it doesn't look like Uncle E has it quite yet. They have the Emulator II one that MrDuke mentioned for $179. Don't know if on top of that you also get the 15% off (Fourth of July Sale) that they're currently running. But if so... that would put it at about $152, which would sure make it a little easier to take!

This one sounds like instant Kate Bush to me. I haven't had that experience with my other Fairlight libraries.Sequent wrote:This is most definitely of interest, but as others have said the price is a little off putting. Yes, we can do Darklight for $152, the same price as Emulator II. PM me and I'll take care of that. For this type of product I would also check out retailers to see if someone carries it. Just from hearing the YouTube videos (which generally doesn't have the best sound quality) it really sounds like both Darklight and Emulation II have a lot of depth particularly to the low end, which was pretty impressive. I can't vouch for the Fairlight (never having actually played one), but I do know that a real Emulator has a distinct roundness and fullness that one doesn't often hear in typical sound libraries (or your average vst for that matter... not even in EmulatorX). It's like maybe watching a 3D movie as compared to a regular movie.
