Every tutorial I find for syncing computers always turns out to be for Macs and we have PC's and so far, all I'm finding is suggestions but no actual functional solutions.
I know NOTHING about doing this but me and a friend have been playing around with AudioMulch for a long time and we'd love to be able to jam and experiment on stuff together. This would require us getting our two copies of AudioMulch synced. We each have HP laptops. I've seen people do this at live shows but I have no idea of what hardware I would need for doing this reliably, nor exactly how to hook everything up. I'm assuming one of two ways, either A: Make one computer a master and the other a slave and link through direct network cable, or B. Hook up something that sends midi clock signals, like my Alesis SR16 drum machine, up to the computers somehow and have them recieving the clock signals in some way. Every time I've seen this setup, it's ALWAYS been with Macs. Is this even possible to do properly with PC's ??? If not, this would be a nice area for a company to produce hardware or software for as it's something that's pretty needed for today's music. ---- "What the hell is that godawful noise !?! Oh. no networks needed, just two soundcards with midi ins & outs on both pcs.
the pc selected as master sends timing info to the slave, no external things needed. master or slave can be selected in mulch's midi sync options. |

Or IPMidi over network cable between the two. It was very easy to set up when I experimented with syncing computers a few years ago.

Good. I'm going to try to go the rout of connecting with a LAN cable as my friend has no midi card. I have a USB to MIDI interface for my laptop, but that goes directly to my Korg MS2000. My friend is more of a 100% laptop based musician and I'm about 30% laptop, 70% actual hardware synths and drum machines. This ought to be fun. ---- "What the hell is that godawful noise !?! Oh.
