Did the free Arturia minimoog make you want to buy any full version Arturia products?

then you miss out. the minimoog is a very enjoyable synth indeed, it might not beat out a lot of others as far as sound goes but the constraints of the ui can lead to some good sounds in it's own right.

that said, i've never been a subscriber to less is more as far as pallette is concerned.

I missed out on it, but I don't regret it, since I've demoed almost all of Arturia's synths when I was demoing stuff years ago, and they're mediocre sounding IMHO. Far from *unusable*, I'm not saying that, but not really the quality they claim they are. It is possible to make a good analog emulation, especially these days, and their synths are not on that list, which I'm truly sorry. Their synths must have sounded well some 10 years ago, but now... I don't think so. They haven't upgraded the sound much lately... I must admit I was amazed somehow by their synths a decade ago, but I never got to actually buying some of them, now I'm glad I didn't. There are some freeware synths today that sound better to my ears... and it's hard to convince my ears that still hold the imprint of the sound of the real analog synths.

Arturia, quickly devise new algorithms cause TAE is last century.

And it seems like dropping the Syncrosoft would be a good move, but it still wouldn't convince me to consider buying one. I haven't heard SEM, though... I'm going to demo it when I find some time. Too many people mentioned it today so I just have to.

Frankly, I even forgot Arturia exists anymore. This is a nice move, this freebie. I wish you all the best!

Frankly, a combo of high cost and lackluster sound has kept me away from most Arturia synths. I paid $75 for CS80v and that's about what I think they're synths should all cost.

I had picked up the Laboratory 61 two weeks before the Moog Original give-away and had picked up four other Arturia synths as part of the deal. I got the Oberheim SEM, MMV, CS-80V, and Jupiter 8V. The night of the Moog Give-away.. i logged onto the Arturia site and downloaded the freebie within minutes of the give-away start. This was around 8pm California time, iirc. It took a several tries even early on, but I got registered, and downloaded the Minimoog V Original with zero issues-- and am thankful that I decided to grab it early on... as I was able to get it without touching Facebook (which I would have been hesitant to do).

Anyway - I am up to my elbows in going through the 3500 presets that came with the Laboratory, the thousands of presets in the four synths I picked up.. and now the 1000 or so that came with the MM Original. The patches in the MM Original are not the same as the ones that came with the Laboratory. Bummer for anyone who passed on the deal thinking that they already had the presets. At least the included patches were fresh. So... I have thousands of presets to sift through ... and four synths to learn, so I can tweak/save my own patches / presets.

Oh.. the OP post. Yes . . I will pick up another Arturia synth in a heartbeat. Not sure which one yet. Of the ones I don't now own.. the MM Original, the ARP 2600V and the Prophet V are high on my list.. If I was in the market for a new keyboard right now.. I would look hard at the Arturia Laboratory 61. Like I said -- with the current sale, I picked up a great keyboard (much better feel than the M-Audio Axiom Pro I had been using) and a boatload of sounds... A fantastic deal, really. for ~ $400... a great keyboard and a summer of load of sonic capabilities, out of the box..

I would say my "favorites" in AF are some of the best sounds I have at my disposal... When I'm looking for something unique or a signature sound I always look there. AF is part of my favorite synths: FM8, Albino, Zebra and Vanguard, but mostly because of the great sounds I have for those synths. My name is Dan Rose and I use presets...

Interesting result so far. If it is halfways representative of the situation as a whole, Arturia will probably not regret their initiative. In a best-case scenario they could make several million.

I own the SEM and it's a bit of goodness... the free MOOG is being used now, but the lack of vowel tweakability is a bit of a bummer, not sure if it will push me over the edge tho. I think I have enough retro crap for now. HAIL ZEBRA!!!!!!!

A little off-topic but still: The Vocal Filter can be controlled via automation parameters and/or alternative host UIs. Same goes for Delay, Chorus and some other things. Its not as convenient as flipping open a controlpanel but at least you are not totally lost...

It didn't make me want to buy any of Arturia's products right now, but it did improve my opinion of their products in general.
