laoganma wrote: A request: the really bendy modulating flange guitar in "UFO" by ESG.
OK, never heard ESG before. Apparently I need to rectify this situation. Wow. Quote: I can get close but can't seem to get the modulation to bend as drastically. Seems like an LFO is being modulated by either another LFO or an envelope follower triggered by the guitar to give it that almost rhythmic movement. Martin Hannett would've been using a Marshall Time Modulator or AMS DMX at the time, I wonder did those units have some kind of follower input? Any tips as to how I can get a similar kinda movement in UberMod? You can hear a similar sound in the intro to "Exercise One" by Joy Division: It sounds like a single delay line with a triangle or sine LFO. This might be hard to get in ÜberMod, as all the delay lines are stereo, with antiphase LFOs. One channel might do something close, but the other will be doing something far different. This is what came out of my attempt to duplicate this sound. It isn't close at all, but it sounds cool: <ValhallaUberMod pluginVersion="1.0.1" presetName="StereoOverTri" Mix="0.5" Depth="1" StereoWidth="0.5" Delay="0" Feedback="0.493000001" Spread="0.5" Slope="0.5" Skew="0.5" Random="0" TapGain="0.5" Diffusion="1" DiffSize="0.042857144" DiffModRate="0.0490490496" DiffModDepth="0.5" LowCut="0.175879404" HighCut="0.591959774" SpatialXover="0.145728648" DetuneRate="0.0320320316" DetuneDepth="1" VibratoRate="0.0290726814" VibratoDepth="0" OverMod="0.0303030312" DriveInGain="0.5" DriveOutGain="0.75" DriveNoiseGain="0.333333343" FeedbackRotate="0" SmoothingTime="0.0990990996" ColorMode="0" DelaySync="0" type="0.0416666679" DiffEnable="0" Drive="1" DrivePrePost="1" Speed="0" InputPan="0.125"/> The above led to the following overmodulated reverb: <ValhallaUberMod pluginVersion="1.0.1" presetName="StrangeTank" Mix="0.541999996" Depth="1" StereoWidth="0.5" Delay="0.0373999998" Feedback="0.810000002" Spread="0.5" Slope="0.5" Skew="0.5" Random="0" TapGain="0.5" Diffusion="1" DiffSize="0.0897959173" DiffModRate="0.0490490496" DiffModDepth="0.656000018" LowCut="0.0653266311" HighCut="0.319597989" SpatialXover="0.145728648" DetuneRate="0.0440440439" DetuneDepth="1" VibratoRate="0.0290726814" VibratoDepth="0" OverMod="0.00101010106" DriveInGain="0.5" DriveOutGain="0.5" DriveNoiseGain="0.333333343" FeedbackRotate="1" SmoothingTime="0.0990990996" ColorMode="1" DelaySync="0" type="0.0416666679" DiffEnable="1" Drive="1" DrivePrePost="0" Speed="0" InputPan="0.125"/> Sean Costello ---- Plugins: http://www.valhalladsp.com Blog: http://valhalladsp.wordpress.com KVR Subforum: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=146 |

Sean, first off amazing plug ins. Use them on pretty much everything I do nowadays.
Since you're taking requests I notice Ubermod has a wee ADT section, any chance of a Geordie Walker (Killing Joke) style sound for slapping on a guitar track? Go on, you know you want to... Keep up the excellent work kind sir. :D |

I wonder if someone is able to create a Patch which sounds similar to the Univibe effect. I would greatly appreciate it. ---- LOVE*FIGHT*CREATE ------------------------------------------- excusemyenglish |

I don't think that ÜberMod could do a Ünivibe sound. ÜberMod is based around delay lines, and is good for chorusing, flanging, multitap delays, etc. A Univibe is a 4-stage phaser, with each of the stages being a 1 pole allpass filter. This will sound a lot different than delay based effects.
