I hope not. If Battery is becoming integrated into Kontakt then I'm sticking with Komplete 7 and Battery 3. Or will just buy Geist. I use B3 because its relatively lightweight and to-the-point at what it does. Adding it to Kontakt will just add another level of kludgeyness. ugh. ---- "Use the talents you possess, for the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except the best." - Henry Van Dyke |

Well, I don't know anything about battery 4 (but love the idea of discussing what could possibly change )
As for the other I'm not sure what the upgrade path is for you (hence me not understanding) BUT if you could do it and it's a reasonable price, K5 is light years loading wise from K3.5. And there are many many cool things. I enjoy GR5 personally, I dunno. I don't know what it costs for you. |

Personally, I love the idea, simply because I use Kontakt so much these days and it would actually simplify my life to have Battery integrated. That said, the wisest thing in my mind is NI to do both, keep Battery 3 around as a separate product AND integrate it into Kontakt. |

If you can afford it, it's likely worth it. I think, you can get the kontakt player and see if that helps before taking the plunge (though I'm not sure) Do you have the other synths/etc? I can give you my opinions on what you don't have.......if it's of any interest (I have no idea what komplete 5 had) |

I mostly use K5 and GR5 but I've had great fun with some of the stuff included. I now am not sure if I could live w/o massive, battery, FM8 (actually, I know I can't live w/o that! |

I can give you my opinions on what you don't have.......if it's of any interest (I have no idea what komplete 5 had) Yea, I have the updated versions of Reaktor, Massive, FM8, and Battery. Only have Absynth 4 but hardly ever use it. I also have Traktor's 12. I don't have Reflektor but I demoed it and wasn't taken by it (might find uses for it, though). I only have GR 3. I'd be getting Abbey Road Drums and Studio Drummer (which I think sounds great), so that's a big plus. There's a voucher with it, too, which might be enough to get Funk Guitarist or Alicia's Keys, both of which I've been considering. I do have the Kontakt 5 Player and I think it's great and I like the Factory Selection that comes with it, so I'm sure I'd be happy with Kontakt, I'd just feel bad about that big box and all those extra disks that will just go in the garbage since I can't part any of it out and sell any of it separately. That's why I said I'd jump on it if it was a download. Then again, the disks I wouldn't use would be only one or two, since I would be using all the sample sets that came with it, which would be the bulk of it. So, yea, it's seeming more attractive. EDIT: actually, there's one sample set I already have, since I think the pianos are all just parted out from Akoustic. ---- Yes! |

Ok, so you're aware. Sweet!
Studio Drummer is pretty good. My gripe is (at least in reaper) I've had a really tough time getting it to work with multiouts (close, but since I already have and love superior drummer, I just kinda gave up) Abby roads drums are not bad but, but a bit of a pain again with mulitple outs. They updated it recently though and I admit I haven't given it a proper go. A fun one too is "west africa" which can but a little complex, but sounds good and again is rather fun. I don't have a link but I used it in a song using "pipes" with the rather excellent "audiothing pipes" that that guy liked enough to post on one his sites. I used my voucher for "razor" MEH! Though it's really a nice synth in some ways, it's "reaktor" which is problematic to some degree and it has a weird thing that doesn't really sound right to me using "beat" (with the host) for the modulations. They say it's on purpose.......I personally wish it wasn't that way. I guess now knowing what you said it's kinda a "tough call". |

Thanks for the heads up about the drums---I use Reaper too so that might be an issue.

Half OT: is it true you can't resell any downloaded products you bought from NI? Ok, Here's what I can say: Some people can request it and it happens (now how would I know about that? hmmmmmmmmmmmm) But as a rule, no. AAFOF, I think they even changed the eula recently that if you buy ANY download version.........no. But, I can say that under certain circumstances they say yes |

Oh, well. I even bought in 1/2 price so I doubt they would allow it, but doesn't hurt to email. I'm still waiting for Dave Gamble to answer me about selling EQuality and it's been many days.
I'm stuck with The Mouth, which I bought on impluse because I thought I might use it to transform drum loops into melodies but I later realized I really have no reason whatsoever to ever bother trying to do that. ---- Yes! |
