I use all my UVI libraries in Mach 5, which is far from silly. I use and like Kontakt, too, and get value out of having both. |

does Darklight not have the "Zow" bass sound? i was watching a youtube review of Darklight and didn't see it listed when he was browsing the included bass patches.
EDIT: this is the bass sound used on Ministry's "Every Day is Halloween". Last edited by jbuonacc on Wed Jul 11, 2012 11:57 am; edited 1 time in total |

Yes it is in Darklight ! Quote: this is just sampler / rompler, right?
Original fairlight was also synthesizer, wasnt it ? Fairlight IIX is a sampler, an additive RE-synth, waveform editor(drawing), real time composer and sequencer. |

But Mach5 has very little to offer except a severely limited range of 3rd party libraries and notoriously slow updates and support. ---- "What embecile composed this list :/" |

Have you ever checked M5 features to be able to tell this ? Thanks ! Great, point me in the direction of the demo and I'll try it out. As for the 3rd party libraries, a quick google shows literally hundreds of companies not supporting the format. And the one that seems to be really enjoying its monopoly judging by the prices. As for the poor reputation, that's something, again, that I didn't look for - just reading threads about the time it took to update Mach5, the lack of communication, the pricing etc. ---- "What embecile composed this list :/" |

Don't need a demo to get a list of features AFAIK.
http://www.motu.com/products/software/machfive/ And you can check it more deeply in your nearest music shop. Not sure what got you angry, but I don't understand such animosity towards a product. |

Angry? I'm really not - I was simply stating that Mach5 appears to bring very, very little to the table. As for my nearest music shop - nah, I haven't set foot in one of those for years; and I see nothing on your list that warrants the extra effort you and MOTU seem to think Mach5 deserves. ---- "What embecile composed this list :/" |

Some of the libraries are $19: http://www.uvisoundsource.com/-9658-summer-no-brainer-deals- 9664-/index.php/cPath/20 |

Perhaps you ought to avoid making statements like "Mach5 has very little to offer except a severely limited range of 3rd party libraries and notoriously slow updates and support" when you don't have personal experience with it and aren't willing to put forward the effort to find out this information first-hand. Personally, I find Mach Five much easier to work with than Kontakt and I love the synthesis and IRCAM stuff: http://www.motu.com/products/software/machfive/technology.ht ml#ircam-tech |

Mach Five works great for me. I happily use both Kontakt and Mach Five together. Awesome; again all I was saying is that I can't see why I'd spend £300 on a product that seems to do nothing that Kontakt doesn't already do. On top of that, I can't demo it on my own computer set-up and there's little 3rd party support. If I'm wrong, please feel free to wax lyrical about why it's so great, I have no great love for Kontakt. ---- "What embecile composed this list :/" |

Which of my two statements - lack of 3rd party support and reputation for poor updates is incorrect? ---- "What embecile composed this list :/" |

If I'm wrong, please feel free to wax lyrical about why it's so great, I have no great love for Kontakt. First of all, If you already own Kontakt, there is a competitive upgrade at $259.00 For that price alone you get 45Go of sounds including several very detailed scripted instruments (Guitar, Bass, Upright Bass, Piano, Electric Piano, Percussions, Drums) For more details http://www.motu.com/products/software/machfive/instruments.h tml Only the soundbank would pay for the whole M5 if you had to buy those separated. But M5 is not a rompler so the soundbank playback is only the surface. What you got here is a full blown sampler with an ergonomic UI which combine both sample and synthesis including granular synthesis and state of the art timestretch/pitch shift. (11 different oscillator types) Tons of FXs, import of older sampler format, ... Now, your turn to lurk MOTU website to see the rest as I'm no professional salesman, just a dev proud of what he's working on. my 2 cents ! |
