Studio One v2 Pro and 32/64 bit plugin modes?

So I'm still on 32bit Vista but have Pro and was just wondering how this works for when I go 64 bit. Does it mean no extra bridge is necessary to run 32 bit plugins? I wasn't really aware of this feature until reading on Presonus' site last night. Anyhow it will make my collection of Synthedit based plugins less of a hassle. Can anyone comment on this? And yeah I know I could ask on their forum but there is not as many posters there, plus you guys are the experts :-)

you can only run 32 bit plugs in the 32 bit s1

and 64 bit plugs in the 64 bit s1

if you need to run 32 bit plugs in the 64 bit s1 you need jbridge
That apparently doesn't apply to PRO: http://studioone.presonus.com/what-is-studio-one/ which is why I asked, I was also thinking I needed jbridge.

For Studio One, they designed a highly optimized and streamlined codebase that makes minimal demands on your CPU. Studio One Professional's 64-bit, double-precision, floating-point audio engine produces fidelity that is equal to or better than that of the other leading DAWs. And with the ability to automatically switch between 64- and 32-bit operation on the fly, Studio One Professional can accommodate any combination of 32- and 64-bit plug-ins and still maintain the best possible sound quality. Studio One Artist and Studio One Producer use a 32-bit version of the same engine and provides sound quality that is very nearly the equal of their 64-bit sibling.

that text is lying. got pro, need to bitbridge 32 bit plugins.

Well it is worded ambiguously, I am wondering what they mean exactly. I doubt they are outright lying, some differentiation is there, is it that you can boot S1 in 32 bit mode? As I'm on 32 bit os I have no way to check.

Its seriously confusing 64-bit data ("64-bit, double-precision, floating-point") with 64-bit code. (You could handle 64-bit data on an 8-bit processor; its entirely separate from the x86/x64 thing)

Taht text relates to the floating-point audio engine which can be set to either 32 or 64 bit. So no they are not lying. You do need jbridge however, since the switch only relates to the processing of the audio engine.

(processing may be the wrong term, im no tech head but bottom line is jbridge is needed :))

Well this is helpful, from Presonus forum:

T hat is something of a confusing blurb, but I think what they're talking about is the bit depth of processing in the plugin and s1's audio engine. that's not the same as a plugin designed to run in 32 or 64bit software or operating systems. For example, artsacoustic reverb will only work in the 32 bit version of studio one (unless you bridge it), because it's a 32 bit plugin. however, it supports 64bit (also called double precision) processing, which is an option in the 32 bit version of s1. it just allows the audio to be processed at a 64 bit depth, rather than 32.

I had just gotten my hope up of not needing an extra bridge but its all good, jbridge exists and anyhow I have a while before going 64bit probably.

It definitely is misleading, and sounds almost like a lie. Ok, so the part about the 64 bit floating point audio engine is clear enough and not misleading, but it clearly says on the page that "Studio One Professional can accomodate any combination of 32 and 64 bit plugins". I don't think its hard to get what meaning anyone would infer from that.

Thats pretty messed up, because that was one of the main reasons I bought it. Still, it has a nice workflow, and there are a few things I really like about it, so I may end up keeping it, but still, this is pretty blatant false advertising in my book. Not cool at all!

just one word of advice: de la mancha plugins do not work jbridged in S1V2. Maybe there are some more plugins that won't work. You should always demo plugins, before you buy them (if 32 bit only)..

Yeah the issue there is I can't demo plugins in 64 bit bridged OS that I already bought :) Once I get 64 bit machine I'll be looking to replace everything with 64 bit plugins asap. I won't be looking to buy plugins I need to bridge. The crap thing is I do have a bunch of plugins that I really like that are Synthedit based and may not ever be converted.
