Is there really not a single cheap basic sampler for OSX?

Trying to avoid buying kontakt...

I don't need everything it does, I really just want a quick and dirty sampler with a filter, basic looping, and automatible/modulatible sample start point. Is there nothing? On Windows I had directwave which would be fine, but there's seems to be nothing of the sort for OSX.

:?

If you have Ableton Live, Sampler. If you have Logic, EXS. If you have Studio One, Presence.

I have studio one... I love it, but presence doesn't load wav files only sfz.. unless I'm missing something.

There is also VSamp. It's very cheap and very basic, but it does the job.

It was the first software instrument I bought about 12 years ago and I still use it from time to time although Kontakt is now my number one sampler.

Buying Logic studio would be your best option.
It's cheap, and includes a great sampler, the exs24.
Not to mention a lot of other good plugins.

Well I'm not going over to logic that's for sure.. S1 is the future IMO :P I have logic 8 express and it has tons of features, but feels so bloated and obtuse in comparison (and I'm good on it too), but that's another thread.

I can actually crossgrade to kontakt 5 for 140 bucks due to komplete elements being included with S1. The more I think about it the more it seems the obvious choice. Problem is I'm really broke. Like real broke. I'm gonna sell some hardware I think. Anybody want an mb-33? How much you reckon it's worth anyway?

check out the 007 them song in this thread...

you will want Kontakt after hearing this!

I'm pretty boggled by this too. After all this time there isn't a simple low-cost bread and butter sampler on osx. Buying a DAW just to fulfill that purpose seems nuts to me...

I think Presence uses "Sound Fonts" (not SFZ files). Anyway, have you tried Impact? Drag n drop individual wave files:

To add a sample to a pad, drag any audio clip from the Browser, or any Audio Event or selected range from the Arrange view, directly onto the desired pad. If you drag in a selected range from the Arrange view, the range will be bounced to a separate audio file and then added to Impact. Dragging a sample to a pad that already contains a sample will replace the old sample with the new one, by default. To clear a pad of all samples, [Right]/[Control]-click on the desired pad and select Clear Pad.

(page 250 of the Studio One manual ... not sure about v2)

Wait...then you have the exs24 sampler already.
Okay, whatever.

Ha.. Im well aware of the capabilities kontakt. That James bond vid is cool. You can pull that kind of thing off in ableton's sampler or short circuit also, neither of which I have access to. :(

I can't believed some one hasn't cashed in on this. Make a modest but cleverly designed sampler for OSX, and charge 50 bucks for it... you'd make some mad cash. looks like I'll have to go with kontakt.

Let's see...it's a $100usd, for a great sampler and numerous other (better than most synths and plugins) plugins, for the express version.
That's cheaper than any other comparable sampler that I know of, not to mention the other plugins it comes with, and great library.

You missed this one then.
Vsamp

It's just as good as shortcircuit, and easy to use.
I bought it some years ago.
Ableton Sampler isn't 50 bucks though.
If you mean Simpler, the included free one. You can get a version of LiveLite cheap. Which you can then use, but you can only use that in Live anyway, so that's not good.
Shortcircuit wasn't free to begin with either.
