Strange, I have a legit version of Win7(pre-installed when I bought the pc) but it doesn't contain Nero.kritikon wrote:Win7 comes with Nero. At least my latest home PC did. I always used to use a purchased copy of Nero on my old DAW, but don't need to update it any more. Nero was always pretty reliable and well featured. It'll do labels and all that kind of stuff if you need it too. Just because it comes bundled already doesn't mean it's crap. Nero used to be considered pretty good before it was bundled. No need to look for external programmes...I use Windows XP Home(32-bit) and Windows 7 Home
How do you burn your cd's?

Maybe it's a regional thing then?
As for burning, I just use that Roxio Creator that came bundled with my computer. I rarely burn anything though. (just realized it costs a S**tload of money when buying it as a stand alone program. Yet it does nothing that Imageburn can't do

Actually, a related question - does anyone know of a free tool to burn DVDs that will allow you to select the region? I want to burn DVDs for family in the US and in the UK, but it's not something that I've noticed as an easy select process for any tool I've looked at so far.

That is peculiar. I always assumed Win was the same the world over. You sure it's not just hidden? Mine's under the Start button - all programs - then scroll way down past XPS viewer where the icon pictures run out and go into simple file icons. Nero v. 10manducator wrote:Strange, I have a legit version of Win7(pre-installed when I bought the pc) but it doesn't contain Nero.

I assemble the songs in Reaper, make a CD CUE/BIN image from within Reaper, and burn it with ImgBurn. ImgBurn is freeware CD/DVD burner, and Reaper is fully functional shareware. Not to mention that Reaper is a great DAW, too. I make everything with it.

I gonna check out the manual.DuX wrote:I assemble the songs in Reaper, make a CD CUE/BIN image from within Reaper, and burn it with ImgBurn. It must have been the manufacturer/builder of your PC who installed Nero.kritikon wrote: Win7 comes with Nero. At least my latest home PC did.
After a quick Google you are the only person I can find claiming Nero is part of Windows 7, the company that makes Nero are still trying to sell it to Windows 7 users(which would be almost impossible if everyone already had it for free ) and the only thing I can find about Nero on the Microsoft website is directing you to Neros website to buy a newer version.
Here is a Windows 7 comparrison chart. I cant find mention of Nero on it:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... e?t1=tab15
Also, Windows versions are region specific. It's not the same thing world wide.
In EU Microsoft were forced to offer a choice of web browsers in Windows 7.
As far as I know they dont have to do this outside EU.

It's entirely possible - although it was from Dell - standard issue with no added extras. Maybe Dell threw it in as a freebie. I wasn't aware they did that though...but I'm pleased they do. I always thought Nero was reasonably idiot proof. Which is wonderful for me.It must have been the manufacturer/builder of your PC who installed Nero.
