ok, i KNOW all this is subjective. and i've discovered that most people believe that what they OWN is what's best (ie pc vs mac, diva vs saurus, etc etc).

i was planning on adding z3ta+ 2 to my setup when the mac version came out. now it's out. but there's no demo...
and i need to PLAY with something before i buy it; i want to know how intuitive the GUI is, how inspiring presets are, etc.

so. a friend from this forum suggested i check out oxium (i just downloaded that demo).

but...just wondering about people's opinions. any thoughts concerning these 2 plugins?

EDIT: this started as a 'versus' thread, but that's done with. i bought z3ta, it's a great plugin. MOST plugins are (potentially) great; it basically depends on the enduser...

i know...sorry LOL. just annoyed i can't demo z3ta, so i can't compare on my own (except by auditioning fake dubstep mp3s etc). laugh at me again and i'll stop buying your soundsets (ok, i wouldn't really do that...).

Eehm... Of course, they're both synths. But the main draw for me to get Z3ta would be the waveshaping capabilities. Oxium, I see more as a high quality subtractive synth. No real first hand experience with either (except I demoed Oxium).
Now, I'm in the same boat, I'd like to buy Z3ta, but the lack of a demo makes me think again... and again... and again...

I have Z3TA i bought it the other week dirt cheap.. opened it, tried it for 10 mins and closed it if that's any help. The other one i haven't tried so i cant' comment. Plus i'm but a pauper and can't afford a mac loool

However i have been programming Rapture for the last 4 weeks and i'm amazed at it. The whole thing is just the tops. I love the GUI too.

even a heavily-crippled demo is better than no demo at all. we're not consumers, we're music MAKERS. i want to tweak, play...to see how a plugin FEELS to me.

on principle alone, i should go for oxium. will probably decide tonite.

Yes well i'm sure Z3TA will suit you cause the presets i heard were great. I just like my Rapture out of all their synths. I had neglected it for so long but man this thing has power.. i even have samples from my Virus in there mixed with Rapture's own waveforms.

No demo - NOT GOOD!

i own more plugins than i use; lots of overlap, and i'm a minimalist at heart (except, LOL, in my music production). i don't NEED either, but new synths are for me, inspiring. and inspiration is a good thing.

whatever i decide, will report back. but welcome any other thoughts. any z3ta users want to chime in?

I cant make comments, except that :

Should you buy Oxium, especially at intro price, then decide to sell it, I doubt you will not find some buyers very quickly.

Then, Oxium has some unique features that you wont find on any other synth. And we plan to add some more in the future.

But well as you have demoed it, you have for sure already an idea of what it can gives you.

And to Rob : You should really check Oxium, Aiyn has made some really deep trancy and dancy presets for it. I'm sure it would fit your style

Z3ta... the concept, the features, the price (70€), the sounds are top. But it's more comparable to Massive. Sound is modern, many good presets..
There is a free sound lib from Bigtone available (Ambient Trance Texture) and some other commercial libs. There is a Virus mod available (have not really tested it because I own the hardware) but it's some of the good points that custom waveforms can be used. I never liked the Arp.

The good thing with Oxium is that they have some guys very active in the forum, so for questions, bugs and stuff not bad. But I don't like the sound, the resource usage and the interface.

I would pick definitely Z3ta.
