Few days ago I put my hands on an old Casio Toy synth. It's a 90's machine and it's totally functional.

The Keyboard has 100 patches (98 melodics and 2 "drumkits") and 100 beat presets (great mambo, rumba and cha-cha-cha stuff!).

I'm planning to sample it and make a sound library, with multisamples (SFZ format, maybe Wusik and Dimension Pro too) and drum loops (those infamous auto rythyms), all 16 bits, 44kHz, mono.

So... How much would you like to pay for such kind of crap?

If it's not Kontakt format, I wouldn't pay a single dime.

For a well crafted Kontakt library (including the beat presets as MIDI, not audio loop, mind you), I could be persuaded to pay between 5 and 10 bucks.

90's is not old. Here are some nice Casios to sample.

Which Casio did you come across? My controller is a CTK-611.

The keyboard is a Casio MA-101. It sounds pretty identical to my old casio CA-110 (that I bought in 94).

It uses PCM samples. Cheezy and noisy.

My question is just because I remember to see some people here talking about these old casio toys, and I think it could be useful or interesting for someone.

If you were talking about a CZ-1 and/or a VZ-1, I'd be willing to pony up $25 if these were Kontakt.

I think my cousin had one of those keyboards (MA-101 or similar, I remember a casio toy from our childhood that looked more or less like that photo)...
Judging from that youtube demo, soundwise it seems more interesting than the ctk's, but I think I wouldn't even download those samples for free because they wouldn't fit in my music. Maybe they could be useful for someone into "lo-fi/experimental" stuffs.

I still own a ctk-511 (it's collecting dust, to be honest), but its sounds aren't interesting in my view... maybe the syn-bass sound (patch #69) could be of some use... the problem is, in my view, that it doesn't sound lo-fi enough to be desiderable and not hi-fi enough to be of any use (plus noise!)...

Speaking of old Casio keyboards, I think I could get something interesting from the WK serie, but I'm afraid I wouldn't use even those sounds in my music (with few exceptions and heavy processing).

I would be interested in a set from the 80's analog Casiotones. A 90's PCM machine? I wouldn't even download it if it was free.

Edit: I meant Casiotone, not Portasound, which I think was the Yamaha equivalent.

The old toy keyboards in a modern DAW based setup could be the spice you have missed in a production to make it great.
We are selling some of the "toy legends", the "Retro Gadgets BUNDLE" most of the best once in a bundle for 55 USD

Now we have a sale so its only 27,50 USD.

And this is for sure; the sampled versions is much better than the real thing, its in tune and accessible via MIDI and ready to play without any hassle and preparations...
So I guess if the samples are good you could make a commercial library out of the toy keyboard you have but more toys would be better i guess, in a collection that could have a higher price.
The Price for each instrument in the "Retro Gadgets" BUNDLE library is 3 USD! and each instruments has a lot of presets and sampled every half note in the whole register + different tweaked programs, HALion, NI Kontakt and SoundFont format.
