I recently purchased the following computer:

Intel® Core™i5 Quad Core Processor i5-3470 (3.2GHz) 6MB Cache
Motherboard ASUS® P8H61-M LE/USB3 (NEW REV 3.0): M-ATX, USB 3.0, SATA
3.0Gb/s
Memory (RAM) 8GB SAMSUNG DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 4GB)
Graphics Card INTEGRATED GRAPHICS ACCELERATOR (GPU)
Memory - 1st Hard Disk 500GB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 16MB CACHE
2nd Hard Disk 500GB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 16MB CACHE
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit w/SP1

I'm looking to upgrade my alesis io2 soundcard to something that is a little lower latency and compatible with 64bit windows. Since i upgraded my computer i've had some strange problems with windows recognising the card in cubase 5, and i've ended up having to use ASIO4AII to get it running which has had some undesired effects.

I'm looking to spend around £250-400 to get something with maximum two microphone and line inputs that is as low latency as possible and compatible with cubase 32 bit running in 64 bit windows. Needs to be usb too.

If anyone has any suggestions i'd love to hear them. Thanks for your help in advance...

The avid mbox is something i've been considering. anyone use this at all?

I'd definitely consider the RME Babyface if I were you (I think this fits all your needs?).
They are very highly regarded and I have been using one myself for the past 13 months.

I have an mbox 3 pro, the firewire one, and can run pretty hefty projects with no problem at a 64 sample buffer. Sounds great too and the build feels sturdy. I play A Roland Vdrum set into VSTi drum samplers so latency is something that was very important ti me. Also the DI's are really nice on this unit, to me at least. I think I paid around $400 USD on eBay.

Thanks for your replies guys. I've read on other forums that the mbox pro 3 is not really much different to the mbox 3 apart from in the number of ins and outs. As i don't need too many ins/outs i feel the mbox 3 would be a suitable option. Has anyone had experience with this?

If you don't need to run large projects at low latency then the regular mbox should be fine. It all depends on your needs from a sound card. Playing soft synths and what not are better with sound cards that can achieve stable low latency performance.

Can anyone recommend a good soundcard?
