I own neither, but want to buy *one*.
Areas of interest are :
- 64/32 bit compatibility & stability
- Custom 'panel' building
- General VST hosting compatibility & stability (hosting of 32/64bit plugins)
- Lack of a Bidule VST demo
- Workflow

The first things I am wanting to do are :
Put my mastering chain into one plugin and add features like M/S and Multiband to plugins that dont have them.
Put different plugins together to create (for example) custom EQs - one band from here, one from there etc.
For both of these setups I really need some kind of custom knobs / sliders to avoid having to open up each plugins GUI when tweaking. I dont care about the prettiness of the panel, or if it lives in the rats nest where the connections are made, just as long as it is there.

Let the debate commence.

I've tried Bidule a couple of times and I just don't like the workflow. Didn't try MUX yet but I've tried MuLab a couple of times and the workflow is great.

+1 for MUX.

I have never been able to get on with bidule. By comparison, ext was a snap

You can do all that in bidule in the straightest possible way. Select plugins in chain, group them and then on groups interface you can add slider or checkmark, etc for any plugins parameter.

I didn't experience warmth nor fuzziness when I demoed Bidule .. But i'm only 1/3 geek

Now with the buzz around MUX I guess I must try it ;

Demo the MUX!
I think you are covered with those needs.
If you demo it and go to the menu and under Instruments choose Silencio, for example, because it was built just by using what comes with the MUX by a user named Trancit.
That should give you a good idea even for a custom panel layout.
And don't forget that the MUX is developed constantly, so there are great things to come while being already great as of now!
Tried Bidule long ago. Great one, but the MUX is Immediate and the Osc are superb!

Questions are answered by Jo anytime and fixes are sometime done overnight and same day when possible.
That in itself is an assets to your money when you buy it.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. I'm no expert, but seems easy enough to get on with (MUX that is)

I put it in reaper, I loaded some stuff and walla! If it's stable then it's a good unit, but I still think it's priced high. I try watching bidule vids and just go WTF?

Again, ext, was painfully easy to use and I miss that style and ability. Will check in machine later.....that could be useful.

Btw, the latest release of MUX can send Midi out to other VST in other tracks

as requested by braj.
I didn't download it yet.

About stability, if thre are any issues Jo has always come up with a fix. His stuff are really rock rock solid.

I didn't go too in-depth with the MUX demo (I mainly looked at plugin compatibility) - is there a 16 knob limit to the panels or is there some sort of way to 'nest' them? When you have 'gain', 'Q', and 'frequency' per band (for example) 16 knobs gets used up pretty fast

And that's before and you start messing with mid/side, saturation, etc.

If you are on windows, Don't forget to check out sensomusic Usine, it's a great modular host and VST, you can build your own interface, no limits on knobs/sliders etc...
Its 32 bits and has been stable enough for me.
They are working on a mac and 64 bits version.
There's a free version with less functionnality than the other versions if you want to try it.

There will be a new demo version of Bidule Standalone available soon. It will likely be (as usual) unrestricted and usable for approximately three months.
Plogue pull the demo version from general downloads (to non-customers) when they're about to release an updated version.
