This. I think it would be an interesting project. ---- Barry The man who survived mustard gas and pepper spray is now a seasoned veteran http://www.ambientonline.org/ |

What do people think is on the "Oh god, I hope we don't get another one of these" list?
Or said differently, what are there already too many of? |

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=355788 I'd still find a VST that measures project working time incredibly useful but I can understand that it's probably too unspectacular for the dev challenge ? It is rather unspectacular as it doesn't need any ingenious sound processing. Nonetheless this could be quite a handy tool, so we put something together. What would be really nice and what I'd surely vote for is a simple, basic and light drum sampler like Poise but with a good browser that has search and preview function.
One can't underestimate the value of a cleverly done browser in any sample app, especially if you have 3 gazillion samples and most of them unsorted.. Ok I know I can just use Shortcircuit2 that has such a browser, but SC2 is unreliable for some and sooner or later I'm going to give up WinXP for 64bit and then.. Or simply just a clever sample browser would do it I guess, so people could use other things and just drag stuff over. Maybe incorporating the open source Locate32 indexing type search function. It should ideally have auto-preview and some sort of categorizing function. All single click and logically laid out, no fancy graphics or stuffing. |

Or said differently, what are there already too many of? Analog synths sure thing is a whole lot of. However I'm trying to be a bit innovative with the technology this year. I however look forward to see the entries from the people that comes up with such lists though. |

I'd love an acoustic guitar simulator. You input an electric guitar signal
and you hear an acoustic guitar. |

I'd like to see emulations/extensions of "West Coast" (Buchla ...) ideas/configurations -- with unusual audio generators (such as the Buchla 2-op FM [or PM?] "complex oscillator") and fx units that can be connected up semi-modularly within a VSTi.
To be honest, I'm interested in aalto clones/improvements. Especially, I hope, with considerably less CPU drain than aalto! A challenge, indeed? Greg Williams |
