I'd use the mclass and patch into a send on the SSL, output of the reverb into the mclass, output of the mclass into the return. Alternatively, I'd patch the send into the reverb and the reverb into a mix channel and use the mixer EQ to control the tail. Of course, if you do this, you have to make sure that you don't turn up the send to the reverb on the mix channel.ttoz wrote:Hi.. normally in logic, i would simply put the reverb on a bus, send to the track i want verb on, then an eq on the same bus directly below the verb, and i can totally control the frequency spectrum.
the thing that would make most sense to use in this case is the vocoder in reason in EQ mod, 32 band mode, but i am not quite sure how to patch it to control the reverb tail.
Any ideas? Help much appreciated.
thanks!
Cheers,

Easy. Send it over Rewire to Reaper, or some other DAW of your choice and EQ however you want it.
Rewire is an absolutely great mixing tool. Why mixing it in Reason at all?
Reason is excellent for jotting down ideas, but not to finish them, polish them, I mean. No matter that they've implemented the so-so mixer...
Anyway, just my 2c...

I'm no reason fanboy, but really, rewire just to eq a reverb? I'm a big critic of the giant SSL sea of knobs, but, seriously, it's not hard to put a chain of effects on an effects send.DuX wrote:Easy. Am I missing something here?

Right click in the mixer area, create send fx, pick your reverb. Flip the rack around (tab), expand the master section, route the audio out of the reverb to the audio in of the eq, and route the audio out of the eq into the fx return. Don't forget to turn the send on for your track.

You do realize that you don't have to right click, right? That certainly works, but the thing to remember with reason is that it pretty much works like a hardware studio. So what sellyoursoul told you is just a shortcut to what I mentioned above. The point being that you wire reason as if you actually had the same hardware components. Knowing what "insert send fx" does allows you to be more creative with it, for example, you can use a mix channel for your return instead of the standard return.ttoz wrote:OMG that worked BRILLIANTLY! thanks!! To top it all off...............
i was right! the vocoder in 32 band eq mode is SO fast to eq the verb, it works BRILL!!!
Thanks so much sellyoursoul (to the.... what?? )![]()
Just like on a hardware mixer, send out is routed from the channel send knob/switch and send return goes into the master bus through the effects return level. They're both on the back of the master section.

I would recommend patching your sends through a channel. That way you get a lot more flexibility and you can use the channel's mixing tools.
@DuX
The SSL mixer actually sounds amazing.

The SSL mixer doesn't have a sound, itself. It is a straight up software mixer. If you say that the eq or compression has a sound, that could be another story, but the mixer itself is neutral.fceramic wrote:The SSL mixer actually sounds amazing.

I think that he meant returns, like I was referring to. You can return your effects back through a mix channel. There's nothing special about the "return" other than it's a channel with fewer features and no sends.ttoz wrote:fceramic wrote:I would recommend patching your sends through a channel. .
sorry to bump this, not sure what you mean.
The last part is important because you can get feedback when you use a channel as a return. That said, it's actually useful to have the sends. you can feed effects returns into other send effects.

ttoz wrote:sigh. I am lost.
The way i see it is a big SSL mixer with 8 sends/returns which is about as good as a good hardware mixer is...
i totally get how to sidechain and use those 8 sends.
what i don't get is what you are saying otherwise...
On a cool note, using a softube saturator under a delay in a send configuration, and just the shitty standard 3 knob reason delay, i managed to replicate logic's tape delay sound almost exactly
just a little tip for peoples
Standard choice
Send -> Effect -> Return "Channel" -> Master Bus
More flexible choice
Send -> Effect -> Mix "Channel" -> Master Bus
The only differences between a mix channel and a return channel are that 1) The return channel is already setup for you whereas you have to ad the mix channel, and 2) The return channel doesn't have all the features of a mix channel including send levels to other effects.
Notice that you can create feed back loops, so be careful
Code: Select all
Send -> Effect A -> Mix "Channel" -> Master Bus
'->Send ->Effect A
Code: Select all
Send -> Delay -> Mix "Channel" -> Master Bus
'->Send -> Reverb
Send -> Delay -> Return "Channel" -> Master Bus
Send -> Reverb -> Return "Channel" -> Master Bus
So, if it's not clear, the Mix Channel, is a NEW channel that you setup specifically to use as a return channel.
Edit: put diagrams in code because they needed spacing to look right
