Talking about how it sounds without the chorus is completely silly - it sounds as the Juno-60 sounds without the chorus. I remember reading an interview with Paul Wiffen about the Synthex where he told that, when exhibiting at the Musikmesse, some people came to him, asking to turn off the chorus and telling: "see, without the chorus, it sounds nothing special".

Without the filters, no synth would sound anything special either

Point is: this is a great emulation of a very tweakable and performative synth, and the price is a real bargain, IMO.

That would indeed be awesome, I like it a bit better than the other juno's. Now if U-he were to get that multistage envelope in Diva, we're there.

My registration is not taking. I paste in the number and it shows registered but still doesn't allow me to save presets. when I close and open again, it's back running in demo mode. I've tried it in Live and DSP Quatro and it's the same in both. Anyone have any ideas?

Sorry for asking, but I never used an Alpha Juno. What's there that's missing in Juno-60? I always considered it a repackaging of the Juno-60, without sliders.

EDIT: After digging a little on the net, I noticed that there are extra waveforms in the sub-oscillator, and also the saw has the possibility to be "pulse width modulated".

Initial (20 mins) impression is this plugin sounds very much like a Juno 60. Seems like a statement of the obvious, but I wouldn't say the same about ANY other VST I know of, including the previous TAL synth. To be sure, the Juno is so basic that tons of synths can make sounds "like" them. But this gives you a proper sense of the Juno 60 hardware, and that's a first for a Juno (or Juno "inspired") emulation as far as my opinion goes.

The chorus sounds great too. Maybe too good! Engaging the 3rd chorus mode (activating I & II at the same time) sounds better than I remember it sounding on a real Juno!

Then we get on to the filter. It's interesting just how much tonal change you can sometimes get with very small movements. The scaling used makes it obvious there's been a lot of matching going on with a real Juno. But I'll need to check how it scales between the different points with a rotary encoder later (assuming the automation is mapped) because some changes between points seemed a bit crude when tweaking from the GUI.

When you get down into harmonic details (of the Junos I'm familiar with) this plugin is still NOT there IMO. It's more plain and basic. Even if the Juno is the very definition of a plain/basic synth, there's still more going on with the hardware. I'd say the same about stuff like DCAM SS and Diva too btw, as nice as they can be. My point being it doesn't stand above those plugins in the detail department, so I wouldn't expect anyone (who cares about such differences) to be ditching their Juno hardware for this plugin. But, as far as having Juno sounds inside a plugin goes, it's a nice step forward.

Haven't compared the dynamics of it as it'd be best to sequence some stuff first. Same goes for comparing bass sounds. Tone wise it seems a bit muted in the upper frequencies to me, but better that than harsh sounding I suppose. Maybe I'll do some direct comparisons (with a Juno 60) at some point as recordings of the filter in motion tend to reveal more obvious differences than a basic preset comparison does etc. Just don't have the inclination atm

I agree the GUI needs some improvements. EG the LFO rate goes from 0-20 where the graphics say 0-10. It isn't obvious when "MAN" is activated either - just add more of a fake glow effect or something! The buttons don't really bother me, but it does look like they're lower on the left and higher on the right because of the shading used.

I love Diva too but the simplicity and relative CPU friendliness of this instrument appeals to me, and how easily it can be mapped to a MIDI controller.. unfortunately when you change presets this doesn't appear to update the parameters in the host/controller (I'm using Ableton Live 8.3.3 with a ReMote 25) or maybe this is simply due to the limitations regarding preset saving imposed on the demo version.. anyone else tried this with a controller yet and what is your experience?

I own Juno-60 too, and this Togu thing is formidable effort but the highs seem to be harsher than in the hardware, that has more mellow quality in the high frequencies. Sort of harsh sizzle in this plug-in. They're very close for sure though, good work! Would have liked to see the noise in the chorus modeled too (maybe switch to turn it on/off). Will probably buy it, it sounds gut!

Bear in mind, it does sound different as well, Juno 60 is generally considered to be fatter. Juno 1/2's filter doesn't go into self oscillation. And it has the multistage envelope I mentioned.
I think a lot of people will prefer the 60 though, because of its obese sounds
