What does the word WATERMARK mean in music industry?

It means that your recording must be free of all audible traces of 'this is owned by me' because they want submissions "cleared" (which usually means whatever you send them they own).kitkonis wrote:Lets say:

I thought a watermark was the line on your equipment that shows how high the water in your basement rose during the last big storm.
