5pts. Yeager - Fosbury Flop

Great synths, Royksopp like fresh air at times (mostly because those mod synth strings I guess), intriguing and "dynamic" (hmm, not sure it's the right word) melodies.
-----------------

4pts. Irion Da Ronin - Our Last Words of Love

Captivating dark far-east atmo, suited synths (incl well worked "gravel" perc)
-------------------------

3pts. Skyzone - The Silent Majority

Engaging "system energetic pulsing" rhythm, lovely synths (especially that phase mod arp Love ) The silent majority is towards making the BIG Revolution! Shit!
----------------------------

2pts. Mulperi - In the Rain (miniV mix)

Lovely atmo, synths (especially those crystal keys) and melodies.
----------------------------------------------

1pt. DocJon - The Principle of Progress

JMJ melodies creep me out! Laughing but overall, it's a great piece of work so I had to include this one into top 5!
---------------------------------

Other pretty cool entries as well..

Good luck! Smile
Cheers,

5 pts - Evo2slo - Moog Me Baby!
This has me rocking! Great solos, riffs, nicely varied throughout. For me this was the most enjoyable track this month, and the one that tends to stick in my mind the most.

4 pts - Irion Da Ronin - Our Last Words of Love.
Wonderful percussion, flute, pads. Great composition with an Asian flavor. Excellent mix/mastering, everything is clear and well placed. Signature Irion.

3 pts - Doc Jon - The Principle of Progress.
JMJ, only better. Progress indeed!

2 pts - Skyzone - The perfect butterfly.
Lovely intro, great sounds.

1 pt - Mulperi - In the rain.
Simply wonderful. Great mood, great sounds, chords and melodies.

Runner ups, roughly in order:
bzur - A meditation. Fantastic buildup. Great sounds, wonderful use of dynamics. Could be a great soundtrack.
Bumtu - Digital Nomad. Quite interesting, and made me really curious to learn more about dub. Great job!
APZX - veiled journey. Tangerine-Dream-like. Solid rhythm, melodies, great pad sounds.
z.prime - lament. Fantastic variety of styles, blending very well together.
Skyzone - Classical flavour. Wonderfully crafted.
Jasinski - Feeling Free. Great wall of sound. Excellent mix.
Third Floor - Minibob. Nice intro and buildup. Great drum sounds.
elipsis1 - Propitiation. Huge sound, great mix.

In addition, I enjoyed immensely the submissions by Papatomany, Yeager, RuediRena, Oopfoo, Photonic, Waltercruz, Loris Solic, Nikp2000 (especially v8 ), and Risk. I have great respect for all of you guys. It's been harder than ever to narrow it down to 12-13 tracks, let alone 5.

Hi all,

5 points: Doc Jon - The Principle of Progress
JMJ was the first album of an electronic artits I got. So beside the perfectly technical realization of the JMJ-sounds with just one VST it is a very emotional voting for me. Thank you Doc for this meadly!

4 points: APZX-veiled journey
I like it how the track envolves. Without a single drum sounds, just with the driving arpegio and nice leads over lush pads. Great!

3 points: Irion Da Ronin - Our Last Words of Love
For me this a soundtrack for a flight over the Andes. The typical south american panflute sound is great! Compliment for the drums, good sound and rhythm.

2 points: Mulperi - In The Rain
A very dreamy track. A perfect chill out.

1 point: Yeager - Fosbury Flop
I was caught by this nice strumming part at the begin. And then my head banging didn't stop till the end of the track.

Way to hard to judge these tracks. They are all good in their unique way so I think it really comes down to personal taste in many respects.

4pt z.prime - Lament
3pt Third Floor - Minibob
2pt Doc Jon - The Principle of Progress
1pt Yeager - Fosbury Flop

I wish there were more points:
Doc Jon
bzur
Irion Da Ronion
Skyzone
elipsis1
and more...

To echo the popular refrain, this was a TOUGH vote.

5 pts - z.prime - Lament
A lot of variety in this track. A LOT of sound. It's interesting and I voted it up for sheer technical prowess, from the opening bass to the chances taken with the closing synths. It bounces across many aspects of electronic music, from a dubstep wobble to an ambient airiness that simply sucks you in. This is a tour de force in synthesizer composition.

4 pts - Jasinksi - Feeling Free
I don't think I've seen my kids dance this much to an OSC track, ever. They all said it sounds like Skrillex, but the song hits you and hits you HARD. I have to vote it up because of the emotional response it generated here in my studio. We just LOVE this song.

3 pts - Irion da Ronin - Our Last Words of Love
You got my vote from the very opening; those djembe sounds are simply superb, and I play the djembe. (You're better at it.) I would vote you a lifetime achievement award for all your contributions to this contest. Holy crap, you make me realize I have SO much to learn with every track you create.

2 pts - evo2slo - Moog Me Baby!
Here's my vote for best retro sound. This is THE sound I've wanted to produce, so very often. The lead that screams in at 1:45 is one of the best things ever. And just how much time did you spend mauling the formant filter? And if you're interested, I've been playing jazz trombone against this track, just because it feels SO right.

1 pts - Yeager - Fosbury Flop
This track is so musical, where so many things seem to end up sounding like a synth demo. The strums...holy crap, they are brilliant! It moves, it grooves, it's great!

I am typing these votes in before I change them again. I've ordered and reordered them for the past several days, and I just can't feel confident in giving so many of you fewer than 5 points. Doc Jon, ThirdFloor, Photonic, Papatomany...you're all on my playlist now. Really great stuff.

I am amazed at the level of ability here. You guys simply blow my mind.

Here's my 2 cents

5pts RuediRena - Devil's Playground
Somewhat chaotic ambient noise that reminded me a lot of Nurse With Wound's music. I like music like this because it's exploratory. You never know what's coming around the corner. You want to turn it off but something just makes you want to listen more.

4pts AdagioCm - Hello OSC
Another unique and refreshing track. Reminds me a lot of Patrick Moraz work with Relayer era Yes. The beginning sort of makes me envision a magical meadow on a misty spring morning. Love the talking voice synth lines.

3pts Bumtu - Digital Nomad
Three points points just for getting that bass drop out of the Arturia Minimoog.

2pts Papatomany - by the light of the gibbous moon
Have to admit I was expecting some sort of Little Richard tribute but completely opposite. Like RuediRena's track, this one breaks free from typical synth music and takes you on a chaotic journey.

1pts Loris Solic - Using voltage to fix my eardrums
once again, more of ambient sound collage than a haughty composition. Could easily fit on an early Autechre or Aphex Twin album.

Honorable Mention

Photonic - wellcome mr. higgs
Mulperi - In The Rain (miniV mix)
Menegass - Disarmer Land Mine
Yeager - Fosbury Flop

Peace

Hey OSC!I feel bad I wasn't able to put in an entry this time. I got busy with that life thing again! But I'm happy to put in my votes. The entries as a whole get better and better every month! I made a CD of my "short list" to narrow down the entries, and it had 18 tracks on it! But here's my final picks:

5 POINTS TO: Yeager - Fosbury Flop YES! Yeager has captured the true spirit of Moog! This is definately the fattest (or...PHAT-EST) track of all! I have to admit, many of the other tracks sounded too thin, but you really brought out the big bold sound of analog we all love! That's what I was waiting for in this contest, and it delivered! That sound, combined with a great composition seems to play back and forth between nostalgic retro memories to the freshest electro! Can't get enough of this track! GREAT JOB!

4 POINTS TO: IrionDaRonin - Our Last Words of Love This was definately the most creative composition of the contest, and the synthesis matched this quality as well. The hand percussion sounds were incredible, the Asian instrumentation was a fresh twist, and you still managed to include some creative use of abstract electronic sounds as well.

3 POINTS TO: Photonic - Welcome Mr. Higgs Delightfully retro! With some solid analog spirit as well! Your synthesis was excellent! I loved the convincing horn section as well as your piano sound. The 80's jazzy rock sound and performance really made it a lot of fun to listen to. I kept expecting Michael McDonald to start singing!

2 POINTS TO: Jasinski - Feeling Free Only Jasinski could possibly out-Jasinski Jasinski! Total WOW factor on how you assemble these mixes! Definatley the most motivating sound in the contest. Makes you want to grin ear-to-ear and strut down the street!

1 POINT TO: Mulperi - In the Rain This track was rich and expressive. The string sounds and pads created a great depth of sound that was very absorbing.

Thanks to everyone for giving us some great music! Hopefully, I'll see you this month for Dune BE!

I'm no judge, and even if I was, choosing the top five would still be difficult. Listening to the rich sounds created with such a limited amount of equipment is truly inspiring. Listening to some of these tracks I asked myself "How the F@#& did they do it?" I think that is what its all about. Great entries, great competition. I'm pissed I missed the first 41.

Jasinski - Feeling Free: 5
Skyzone - Classical flavour: 4
Yeager - Fosbury Flop: 3
Irion Da Ronin - Our Last Words of Love: 2
Doc Jon - The Principle of Progress: 1

Everyone gets a 5 and I hope we all come back with a bad ass track in the next OSC.

Lots of very good entries, here is what I personally connected with.

1.Irion Da Ronin - Our last words of love (5points)

Many good entries, but none like this for me. Totally captivating from beginning to end, brought up a lot of images of Asia. A fantastic composition in general and the percussion is outstanding. The mix is very good, however overall it is a little quiet and the instruments are a little too far behind the percussion. In a way a piece like this isn't too badly effected by this and it does not rely to heavily on the mix itself.

Also one of the few entries that had a melody I remembered and would hum to myself at various points in the day.

2.Doc Jon - the principle of progress

Excellent all round production, great open mix, loud, clean. Lovely melodies, actually it's not my taste but the melody echoes your Diva entry, 11th Dimension, which I really liked alot.

3.Bzur A Meditation
Really lovely piece

4.z.prime - Lament
The distorted lead is just pleasure.

5.Mulperi In the Rain (1point)

Honorable mentions to elipsis1 propitiation and Jasinski feeling free
Jasinski - Feeling Free
Bumtu - Digital Nomad

Good work guys, lots of other good stuff too.

Yo,

I voted for what I considered to be the best all round tunes in terms of creative synth use, musicality, originality and mix expertise.

My votes as follows :

1 - Irion Da Ronin - Our Last Words of Love ( clear winner, nice work )
2 - Jasinski - Feeling Free ( very nice indeed. Lots of work went into this )
2 - Z prime - Lament ( Nice industrial sound, like it )
4 - B'zur - A Meditation ( very nice chilled vibe )
5 - Elipsis1 - Propitiation ( for what it's worth, I think this track shows the most promise, musically, but the mix let it down for me .. sorry )

Nice work, all.

Cheers,

Third Floor.
