Hey guys,

I kept getting a lot of requests for me to list Android apps at iDS, but then a lot of people said they preferred it that the site was iOS only. So I decided to make a new site just for Android Music apps and keep things separate.

I've finally finished building the new site yesterday. It's called Android Musician and is at http://www.androidmusician.com

I hope you guys like it? :)

I've added a bunch of apps already. Most I've tested myself (on my shiny new Google Nexus 7, love it by the way!) and have added a few suggestions.

If you guys could take a look at the site and post here if there's any Android music apps that you're using that I haven't yet added to the database then that would be great 8) :help:

I've also started a new twitter account for those of you that like to keep up to date via Twitter @AndroidMusician https://twitter.com/androidmusician

Cheers,

Alex

Ahhhhh, so you're behind it, no wonder it looks so good right out of the gate.
Thanks for creating it, and thanks for helping us Android devs.

Cool! Thanks for this! I moved from Android to iOS because of the number of available apps and the Android latency issues, but It will be nice to keep an eye on Android as well, because as things improve there, it may become a better option in the future. :-)

USB Camera connector? That's on a iPad, not Android. Most Android tablets have full USB port(s) built into them (my Acer Iconia A500 does).

I do wonder which, if any, USB keyboards or USB audio products work with Android either out of the box or by way of a 3rd party app?

Do any exist?

Sorry. I was unaware that the Xoom required you to use the data port like a iPad. I'm loving my Acer more and more every day!!!!

You have simply done it again Alex. Congrats. It is great. Overall the colors may be a little too dark for my eyes. I would prefer a stronger contrast between dark and brighter elements. Function wise it is brilliant as could be expected from you. Splendid work. :)

If it's just recording MIDI through USB to a standard MIDI file without any editing, I have an app in development that can do that, but it's not finished yet.

I am fairly new to Android music making, so this is a very useful site for me....thanks for your efforts 8)

@SingleCell...any idea when Caustic 2.1 is going to be released, as I am pretty sure I read that it will have variable pattern lengths? Btw, didn't know that you were based in Brisbane. Always good to see Australian software development.

Nice site! My Nexus 7 is finally arriving today (I got it for work but you know how it goes :hihi: ) and if the latency is better on Jelly Bean maybe I can finally make some music on Android. The larger screen size (I'm using an SGS2 for a phone) may help too. Bookmarked!

I'm hoping to get it out some time in October, most of the major work is done. You're right that 2.1 will bring longer patterns (1-2-4-8 bars) as well as smaller note resolution choices (32nd 64th). I'm hoping v2.2 will be ready shortly after as I've been working on new synths in parallel to the workflow improvements for 2.1

I used to work in games, but unfortunately most of the big studios in Bris have shut down. Most of my mates have gone to indie mobile games dev or escaped overseas. I was having lots of fun doing custom dsp work for our sound engine so I decided to get into music apps, loving it so far :)

Thanks for your reply! Very much looking forward to the new version of Caustic and the new modular synth looks amazing 8) I am guessing 2.2 will include this? You also said "new synths" so there could be more than one...cool.

Yeah , I hear your pain about the games industry in Aus. I work in 3d , but have fortunately stuck mainly with broadcast work. Glad I didn't pursue the work at Team Bondi years ago like some of my colleagues did...we all know how that turned out. Unfortunately both the film and games industry have taken a beating in this country. Good to see you are having success with Caustic!
