Still loving a Laney Cub10 little combo with the external speaker out going into my old JCM900 Lead series 2x12, Infront of it are a Boss NS-2 first then a Digitech MetalMaster distortion, then Boss DD-5 and Rothwell Love Squeeze which goes into the combo's low input. Its only got a spartan tone, gain and volume but I find it really killer for the size and for getting the most out of whichever choice of dirt pedal I'm in the mood for. I'm able to crank the gain and volume which are pretty co-dependent well over half way to get good power-amp compression in action. Even when I do not whack it through an external 2x12" or 4x12" the actual 10" speaker and closed back design gives a rather impressive focused thump. Usually I can't stand 10" speakers for my guitar needs but this one is certainly an exception Other setup which I have been using and enjoying is the Boss GT-10 going straight into the Fender HotRod Deluxe III 1x12" combo's power amp using a few of the GT's pre-amps, That was a combination I would not of thought I'd like and only tried out of curious meddling but yeah it works rather well (To the point that I am going to hookup the GT-10 to my laptop so I can utilize the editing/storing patches...etc.) Anyone else utilizing setups that perhaps you thought would not work that well but are getting some really surprisingly useful results? Looking forwards to hearing how that Yammy box works out Nik mate John I reckon personally I'd have an ESP over a Suhr even though Suhr make the best of the best/as good as it gets, I personally prefer the ESP ultra thin u contour neck profile and also I have never tried to drop the tuning on any of the Suhr's I've tried in my local. However if it were the LTD one I'd take the Suhr instead, Then sell the Suhr and get two other guitars (hypothetically if for some reason someone randomly gave me the option of one or the other for free for whatever crazy reason that somebody might do that). Yeah I know that it just never ever going to happen Scheter just announced this the other day so depending on numerous things I might have me one: Schecter Guitar Research Blackjack SLS C-1 Ex Baritone (In black obviously) Just the same old problem with finances not being on my side for a change. Speaking of Yamaha was it them who did that purple pedal called the 'Magic Stomp' or was that Korg? I remember those and they were pretty well built but for some reason unreliable for a reason I just can not recall, Losing my memory All the best to everyone Dean ---- Shit For Blood, Piss For Brains |

Obviously it's not going to be competing with a proper setup but for my home playing needs it's probably perfect. Cheers! bManic ---- "He who asks is a fool for five minutes, he who does not ask remains a fool forever" |

Cheers! bManic How about a short sound example if you have the unit now? Just stick a 57 in front of it and pay thru a few tones? Or use the headphone outs? |

Will do, once I get the unit. It took longer than expected to pay by wire transfer.. so I'm still waiting for confirmation that they got my money.
Probably will get the unit next week. Cheers! bManic ---- "He who asks is a fool for five minutes, he who does not ask remains a fool forever" |

That sounds pretty good! One thing worth noting is it makes his humbucker and P90 sounds like single coils, so my concern is it would sound harsh with single coils. Anyway, that's absolutely killer for the price. |

He actually mentions a single coil sound at one point in that vid and he seemed to change something (pull pot?) at that point so I got the impression the bridge humbucker might have a single coil tap on it. |

I was impressed also, Especially the beef in the low-mid/mid-range and with any of the pickups I use which are alnico v based buckers along with dropping the treble some its usually an easy cure for any hint of harsh/shrill/brash higher frequencies. I suspect that the bass model will be good for my needs as a down tuned freakoid but the 'modern' channel and the 800-type for AC/DC style crunch i can hear being useful. Will give one a try for sure and indeed seems like really good price wise...I spend more on single overdrive pedals (or I used to do All the best chaps as always, Hope everyone is well Dean ---- Shit For Blood, Piss For Brains |

Hmm gotta try these by AD/A as old, fond memories of my A/DA rack pre-amps come flooding back (well sort of/Through smudged lenses perhaps http://www.adaamps.com/Products/ada-APP1/APP1.htm http://www.adaamps.com/Products/ada-GCS2/GCS2.htm Still good to A/DA still going/More choice of gear the better for us all Edit: Oh my, The soundcloud demos of the APP-1 are not at all impressive by bloody miles. Its the APP-1 going into Mesa Mk IV's power section and well I expected alot better Somewhat redeeming to an extent but still I am not that confident in either, Going by the two demos I've heard so far: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZLezYymLb8 ---- Shit For Blood, Piss For Brains |

Anyway, that's absolutely killer for the price. He has the treble cotrol way too high. It's extremely sensitive past 12 o'clock.. like move the knob a millimeter and you get +3dB boost at 5kHz. All the tone controls are very interactive and the brightness can be toned down a lot. I thought the video sounded pretty bad due to the way too bright tone he dialed in. I can only recommend trying the unit out yourself. It's the only way to appreciate how good it really sounds and how versatile it is. I wonder what plans they have for further expansion/revision of this new line. Bass versions and versions with more power come to mind. |

Just got my Yamaha THR10 practice amp. It's magnificent!
Will take it with me to the studio tomorrow and hopefully get some recordings done. I just hope my fingers aren't hurting badly tomorrow as I've been playing guitar for 3 hours non-stop.. and it's like 6 months since I last played for that long and now them fingers are sore like crazy. Had to stop due to pain.. oh the pain! Doesn't help that I have a .13 string set and a crappy, chunky neck (.56 or something on low E) on this Korean guitar I got for 30 euros.
