I just picked up CM 181 with Geist Lite and cant get to trying it until late this evening. Im just wondering how it differs from the full version. Thanks!

Only one 'engine' rather than eight, no multiple outputs, less effects...

Still helluva lot of functionality for for free though.

Well I got home early and have it installed, where is the 'drag and drop' pattern area usually located? Also I guess I can upgrade for $125, not ready to do that now but it is a nice surprise. triggering the patterns via the keyboard is not that much of a drag really.

I'm totally enamored with Geist now

What a great little freebie the Lite version is, I though no drag and drop was a deal-breaker because I generally prefer that system, but triggering via the piano roll is easy because of the key map, I haven't tried using my own samples yet but as it it is a gret addition to my setup. And it looks like it was made for Studio One

Same here.

Geist is the only plugin I know of, that can do what it does that easy.
NI Battery obviously has similarities and "was there first", but although I have it, I always use Geist Lite instead.
Just so much easier and faster.

One fully functional set of pads in Geist Lite is all it needs to create a decent drumset, granted - multiple outputs would've been killer, and it's just soooo flexible.

As soon as I start making some cash with my music (hey, a man can dream) I'll get the full version with all the drum samples I'll never need, but before that happens... too darn expensive, just for a drum machine.
My vocal microphone cost me less... (AT 3035)

I'm not sure if loading your own samples or individual pads are disabled in the Lite version. I get a prompt to find samples as soon as I try to load a new pad, and can't locate any. Even as is though, a free drum machine with 9 kits is pretty generous. I love the pattern editor.

I recommend you get the full Geist! Freaking best drum app ever! I have always found sampling a tedious affair, but with Geist I sample various synth hits all the time... It's fun, fast and powerful. I sample percussion/drum hits from Bazille, Zebra etc... I also sample some bass notes and make little basslines... I also sample some drones and synth efx...

It is a snap to record 4 or more versions of the same hit and round robin them on a pad.

I use multiple engines to have some sequences of different lengths and also some sequences that are slow to play some non-drum stuff... It is a great little environment. Song mode is great for chaining sequences and to make whole songs. You can use notes to trigger scenes in scene mode. Really useful for spontaneously crafting rough drafts which can all be edited later in your daw.

The Geist CM version does not come with the splitter so is not so sweet for sampling. In minutes I can sample 30 different sounds in 4 synths and have them all on pads that quick. The included effects are very good and one of the first things I noticed when I started making my own kits is that they sounded as good as any pro kits with no extra effort. Making a new kit is easy enough that I regularly do it for a new project and only for that project. I keep tracks with the synths used (disabled) so it is easy to re-sample. It is also easy to sample a sound, and edit it including effects in Geist then directly resample it.

Geist is a very creative tool...

yeah, sampling is sweet in the full version. I had a blast playing with it in stand alone mode, recording bass and guitar licks. Then when I loaded it in Cubase and discovered the wonders of spitter and my other vst's..wow.
