I'm still having trouble with the installers on OSX 10.6.8

I've had the following problem with the Creative / Mastering and Free bundles.
Each time I get about 7% into the install and it has an error with one of the PkgInfo files being write protected. It will keep doing this sporadically until it has gone through all the files. It appears that it only effects VSTs (EDIT-actually in the free bundle there are pkginfo files in the component directory it is having problems with as well) They do however seem to be working properly after i've run the installer over and over again!

(EDIT - also / free bundle has taken about 5mins "Creating Shortcuts" at 100% and hasn't allowed me to close yet)

This is a usual error for many Melda installers at least for me. Just delete your old files before installing the new version and you should be fine.

Just happened to me too. My dumb solution: run the installer a lot of times, until all files have been installed correctly.

Yej, ok, noticed. The trouble is, it seems doing that only on some machines. It looks like the files are owned by the system, randomly, hence cannot be replaced... We'll see, I'll ask Apple what the hell is this again...

One thing I might try to remember is to "Repair Permissions" before installing the next update. Might help?
I wonder how many of us are on Snow Leopard having this issue?
I'm not upgrading out of choice any time soon.

I think the best idea is to delete the files manually. But I need to find the catch anyway...

As I told you some time bebore, can't you just put an option in the installer that deletes previous files before installing? User just "ticks" an option box or not...

Unfortunately that is not a solution - the system prohibits the installer from rewriting the file (thus deleting would be prohibited as well).

Don't know if you changed anything but the 7.03 installer went all way through (from 7.01)...

Actually yes, something has been changed, it's more like a "hacking apple"
