Tascam VLX5's here. These were superseded by the VLA5's about five years ago. Tascam also do a matching subwoofer The LS8 I think it's called. The VLA5's come with a low cut switch for when sub is in use. Love my Tascams. Had them for six years now. The transformer crapped out on one of them last year but was able to get it repaired. Did consider replacing with the Yamahas but was glad I found a repair shop to do the work.
Just make the music that you enjoy (failing that go for a walk, watch some porn, have a fight with a random bloke until something else happens).

granted,
when i listened to the neumann kh 120 i was blown away, such a dynamic and musicality,i can't describe them but i listened to some mp3 dubstep an they go loow ,the mp3 artifacts where pretty audible too.
however, since all the other speakers in that size or bigger, for example the adam ax 7 sound nothing but lame and lifeless i reconsidered my monitor purchase and saving up for maybe a pair of those.
i can't say what neumann (k&H) did with this monitor, yes they are heavy equalized to be able to go that low but i don't think that's the only criteria.
i recommend listening to them.that's all i can say about smaller near field monitors at the moment.

My 2c, go and listen to a few anyway; your not committed to buying on the spot and you'll have some kinda reference. A/B some midrange monitors like the Adams and focals against the budget ones, i did it last year and it was a bit of an eye opener.
Amazed there aren't more D5 users, from what i'm reading they are the current benchmark for budget monitors.
