Asymmetric EQ Bell Filter & High Order Butterworth?

Anyone know how to get the seemingly asymmetric eq shape (look at eq point 4) as displayed on the DDMF IIEQ Pro product page? I've tried several things so I'm a dummy - would someone who knows something step up please?

I was thinking about Waves H-EQ asymmetric bells (on sale) when I tried stuff I already have; SEQ2 (Nugen is repairing this one), Voxengo CurveEQ, then I open up the DDMF web page and there it is - something that looks like an asymmetric bell. I can't match it though... :help:

The Product Page is:
http://www.ddmf.eu/product.php?id=0

Any other asymmetric enabled EQs that folks like? And have a good workflow that sounds good. [Sorry can't do Algorithmix - no budget even if in the long run it sounds great]

[EDIT: Changed topic to reflect what Gamma-UT and docdued have confirmed about the IIEQPro web site picture]

Ok cool maxxxter - let me get my terminology fixed up here - I'm not talking about the boost/cut symmetry just the shape. I tried to get some band interaction but couldn't make it look like the DDMF picture using IIEQ, it was simple to do with CurveEQ (add 4 points).

I got fired up about this after reading the H-EQ specs:
http://www.waves.com/content.aspx?id=11818
Thay have a "one-of-a-kind asymmetrical bell filter" to quote them correctly this tme. This particular one lets you select the slope, so says the manual:

"...the Q for this filter does not change the width of the bell; rather, it controls the "tilt" of the filter."

I don't know if I care about getting the H-EQ in particular since I can do something similar in CurveEQ (linear & minimum phase now) but it's on sale so I was just thinking...

u want to replicate the graphic or what that weirdo settting sounds like ?
If your plugin is a Synth-edit/synth-maker creation, Say So.
If not Make a Mac version of your Plugins Please.

Can you make an EQ shape like that? How?
Just touching bases with fellow EQ users - I'm leaning towards picking up Waves H-EQ just so I can tilt a bell curve. I can already tilt the entire spectrum with tilt EQ's like niveau:
http://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/plugi ... ilter.html

I thought it would be pretty handy to be able to tilt an eq bell like H-EQ says it does.

Some useful reading, believe it or not, is the Renn EQ manual (Google those words to find a copy online). It talks a lot about the Gerzon/Baxandall resonant shelf idea - the tilt in H-EQ looks as though it's derived from that but applied to a bell rather than a shelf.

I have H-EQ, and although you can tilt the bells (ie "wiggle" them around their peak), I don't think there's any way you can create crazy EQ curves as shown in the ddmf example. Or, there are other EQs more suited to the job. That being said, I really like H-EQ, versatile and good quality.

@Gamma-UT - yes that is mandatory reading for sure, Chapter 8: http://www.waves.com/manuals/plugins/REQ.pdf

@BDeep - nice report, nothing too drastic then. I'll test it out and demo soon, I think Waves Universe has it for $70 or so right now, gotta move fast.
I can make a curve like that in CurveEQ (linear/minimum phase) since it has control points and is a Spline type, maybe that's what I should look for. Do you know of another eq that will do it?

I've got to ask: is there something wrong with just getting IIEQ? For the money, and even if it was priced higher, it's a great EQ.

H-EQ is good too, as it's like having Renn EQ but with a few more options.

I've got IIEQ Pro, I just can't make it do what the picture does, I've finally asked the developer how they set it (not photoshop I hope... :hihi: kidding).
Good tip on the H-EQ = Ren EQ ++ think I'll demo that today. :)

H-EQ has some more bells and whistles than RenEQ (one of them begin the "wiggle bell" and some "famous EQ" emulations), but, the complete RenMaxx bundle is now on sale for 99 (I would have bought it if I didn't already have H-EQ and RenChannel).

But for the crazy EQ type thing, I haven't tested all of them since I don't really find a need for it, but obviously there's Photosounder SplineEQ, and I always figured the DDMF one would be capable of doing these things, have you tried different filter/EQ types in IIEQ Pro?

That Butterworth bandstop is something else: when you positively, absolutely have to kill a frequency band stone dead. Accept no alternative.

It's not matched completely one to one but the profile's all there. In use, the curve sounds remarkably less sh1te than what I was expecting.

Outstanding Gamma-UT, thanks for the EQ lessons, trying it out! 8)

Thanks BDeep - I found H-EQ over at Waves Universe for $67 today (are we allowed to say that outloud?) no brainer. RenMaxx is $87, hmmm...

I appreciate all the help guys - you rock (and are smart too :) )

The thing with the RenMaxx bundle is, you might already have similar tools at your disposal. But do demo H-EQ if you think you might like it. Think of it more as a traditional EQ (in the same vain as Neve, API) than a super flexible digital EQ (as IIEQ Pro). Please note that only the "Digital 1" modes (setting per band) feature the asymetrical bells. Digital 2 is the same as the RenEQ, and the others are modeled after famous mixing desks. Good luck deciding, 67 is a steal!
