Hi,

PinkNoisestudio have just released the ORANGE Kontakt library which is based on the Waldorf Microwave XT synth:

http://www.kvraudio.com/product/orange-kontakt-edition-by-pi nknoise-studio

http://kontaktbanks.com/kb_orange.html

http://kontaktbanks.com/kb_orange_order.html

The current price is 25 Euros.

As a fan of Waldorf synths, current owner of a Blofeld (and some Waldorf softsynths) and former owner of a Microwave XT (at around 2005/2006) i have just purchased this and am testing it now.
Seems to be based on Kontakt 3.5 and higher so no extensive editing capabilities like with most current Kontakt 4/5 libraries.

My first impression is quite good anyway. This seems to contain several "typical" Waldorf/wavetable sounds and some more specific to the Microwave II/XT. So far there seems to be no softsynth including Largo that besides the wavetable content (all included in Largo) fully emulates all features and all the filters of the Microwave II/XT. The Microwave II/XT was also able to create custom wavetables based on the included and custom waveforms.

Some info about the Microwave XT/XTk (Microwave II is the same without the many knobs):

I also got the Deepflight Kontakt library which is based on the famous D-50:
http://kontaktbanks.com/kb_deepflight.html

PS:
The color of the orange skin for the Xils Lab Oxium softsynth is based on an idea i had during the Beta test and it was based on the color of the Microwave XT. I had even tried to get the correct RGB colors based on pictures. Have not checked how close the current color of Oxium really is.

Sounds good and there are very generous demo taster packs available. They are what got me buying the other products. Smile

But I'm not getting a good download speed here, it's less than 100 KB/s. I hope Andras can wind up his server.

I think it was around 700-800 KB/s in my case.

The presets seem to use the Modhweel, Aftertouch and Velocity for modulation. This also includes waveform morphing in some cases.

The samples seem to nicely represent the typical "clear" Waldorf sound and also some of the "grit" which made the XT famous. All the "typical" wavetable sounds like e.g. Choirs, Vox sounds and Bells are included.
The XT was also able to produce some beautiful analog tones and some examples are included too.

I guess yes but i was not aware of that earlier version as i don't use Reason. I just recognized this today at the new products page here at KVR.

Even if i already got the Blofeld, Largo and PPG Wave 3.V this makes me wanting a real XT back again. There seems to be a very special sound about it.

I just noticed the other week when I got Reason that PinkNoise has done lots more refills than Kontakt libraries. So I'm thinking they are in the process of porting libraries to different formats.

Unbelievably cool demos though, for Reason one can get over half a gig of prime samples for NN-XT for free Love

As a fan of Waldorf synths and having used (or am using) e.g. Waldorf Q keyboard, Microwave XT, Blofeld, Largo and PPG Wave 3.V this sound really fantastic IMO.
I just start to recognize some of the presets i had played on my XT while i had it around 2005/2006.
After having played different Waldorf synths the Microwave XT seems to be a really special piece of hardware which so far was not emulated into detail except that you got most of the features and wavetables in e.g. the Blofeld and Largo.

As already mentioned it's also fun that some of those Konatkt presets use the MW, Aftertouch and/or Velocity for morphing and/or modulation.

And i thought that i had enough Waldorf sounds.
Ahh, this is very tempting. Can ... not ... resist ... Laughing

I think i will buy this sample set now. You never can have enough Waldis and i already have and like Revolver and Matrix from PinkNoise.

Indeed there is something special in the sound of the Microwave II and i have two hardware Microwave XTs (and a MicroQ keyboard, Largo, PPGWave 2.v + 3.v). They are the best synths i ever got. Even the original presets from 1998-2000 (or so) still are some of the most useful and beautiful sounds to me. I only wish that Largo had some more of those softer wavetable pads in the presets.

Cheers,
Gerald

Just to add that I bought the refill a few years ago and the Kontakt version is a free upgrade to the original.

I purchased the ORANGE sample library last week. It is a great purchase, especially due to the fact that it comes with the individual Kontakt, NN-XT patches and Wavs, in addition to a Reason refill, which provides a lot of end-user flexibility.

I have checked all included presets now and i am quite impressed by this collection. Really beautiful sounds which seem to contain several that i liked while i had the real thing. Seems to cover all necessary categories for making a full song with it.

While listening to those Kontakt presets i recognized how much this and other Waldorf synths (first one was the Q) influenced my own sounds/presets and not only those i made for the Blofeld and PPG 3.V (in that case the connection is quite obvious).

All is well - I bought Orange yesterday and the download speed to > 1.1 MB/s, so only the taster download was not so fast.
