I haven't been here in so long I've changed computers and email addresses twice and had to reregister. I'll be upgrading- as long as the dropped first note bug is gone and it recognises my Audiofire 2 as an interface.

Hi, great and very surprising news. Long ago I switched from an old cubase version to tracktion 1, purely because you could be creative so quick. I went with it up to T3 and now.... it also feels a little bit nostalgic to open. I am not really sure yet if I will go back because it was a big move to choose and change DAW and learn and customize everything to my needs, built templates etc.
Regarding the website, login worked after password reset but only my T1 license was recognised and I am eligible for the upgrade, my T2, T3 License was not transferred. Demo download and installation worked, website is extremly slow and still feels to "fishy", i would't enter any payment data at the moment but I am sure they will get that sorted out.
so it is good news and and will tell it to friends that also were infected to tracktion by my recommendation long ago.
All the best to the Tracktion Team.

Just wanted to say a big "congratulations!" to all the long-suffering Tracktion users. This must be like Christmas x 12!
Does this mean that the original dev reclaimed it from Mackie?

Only if you skipped T2 and 3. However, in groundhog time it's relatively new.aMUSEd wrote:What's that? New feature already?paradiddle wrote:Upgraded. plugins per clips. Mmmm!

yes that's what happened along with an ex mackie employee and a famous musician. A team of three, totally independent to Mackie, bduffy wrote:Just wanted to say a big "congratulations!" to all the long-suffering Tracktion users. This must be like Christmas x 12!

Looks like the linplug stuff (CronoX etc.) doesn't ("sorry.. only works with Tracktion 3") - this makes me sad.
Several other of my plugins caused the vst scan to crash, including GPO (kontakt player), Play (Goliath), and a bunch of others (i may not have the latest versions, but they work fine in T3)
Presumably one may have to buy the upgrades individually from the relevant plugin supplier.
I hope Tracktion can give us some guidelines which plugins work, which need upgrading, etc.

I can login to my Tracktion info with Mackie, but not at the new website. I tried a password reset, but the new site wouldn't let me save the new password. I like the new price, but wonder what the next upgrade price will be, and how soon, since minimal updates have, by their own admission, been made. Maybe they should have tested everything before announcing the new version. Never a great idea to have a fubar launch. Sorry, but there's no way to sugar coat this. I would have bought it today if the website functioned right since Tracktion was my favorite recording software before version 3. Now I think I will stick with Reaper until they figure out what they're doing again.

What a good surprise, Tracktion reborn after so many years.
I don't even know where I put that licence N° when I purchased T3 !
Go download the demo now.
edit : Not a good start, New Traktion site doesn't recognise my mackie account, ask a new password 30 mn ago, still no reply !
Finally registration was OK this morning and was able to download T4 demo
it seam's developper team react fast and hope T4 will soon be upgrade to new level.
What a pleasure to rediscover this soft after so many years.
No bugs after 30 mn trial on imac snow leopard.
Didn't find mackie final mix plug, which was wonderfull under T3.
Will purchase this week a new licence.
Long life to traktion

Tracktion 2 was the first DAW to tempt me off recording hardware, the first UI that I felt was a big enough leap over the old "just like hardware" paradigm to make borging with a computer for music production worth the effort and ergonomic/posture/health drawbacks.
In time I outgrew T3 and now in my professional work I use Magix Sequoia. For classical work something like Sequoia has some specialised features that make the high cost worth it, IF you are earning you're living from it (which I am).
Still, I have kept my eye on T and I'm just so happy that the current team have applied the defibrillator. Immediately on trying the new demo I could recognize the way Tracktion with it's fast and simple method, invites me to experiment, and I KNOW that for sound design work this is once more my tool of choice. By comparison Sequoia which costs approximately 48x more than a T4 full license, inhibits these gambles off across the pastures (but in it's own complementary way makes other tasks so easy).
I just hooked up a hell multichannel surround vst rack in T4 with multiple hardware outputs that wouldn't even be possible in Sequoia, or if it did would crash or make your bounces 0dBFS noise.
I am having the same issue with corrupt or invalid license key as others, and I've found a small list of bugs I will post (if others haven't) once the dust settles. Still I'm happy to wait till I can authorise T4, Jules and co. have enough to do right now.
I hope everyone gives them a break on the forum banter, it's great that T is back, celebrations are in order.
