The exact name of this instrument is unknown. It uses a French horn mouthpiece and the range is a little lower than a trumpet and a little higher than a trombone. To make most of the instruments in this set I played single notes and resynthesized them to create multi-samples. In all cases the resulting tone is still very brassy and close to the natural one.
Some samples are time stretched so this library is not meant to perfectly emulate the real instrument. It's a simple library without velocity layers or alternate samples but it is great for adding a horn flavor and also providing a wider range of uses, a good way to add brassy sounds to your compositions at a very low cost. The sounds range from smooth and mellow to hard hitting and growling, from staccatos and stabs to sustained pads. Visit this page for more info and to download the free demo (8 instruments and 1 multi): http://lesproductionszvon.com/marching_band_horn.htm The full version has 41 instruments, 6 combis and 13 multis. It costs only $2.49 US. ![]() Last edited by zvon on Sat Feb 09, 2013 3:33 pm; edited 3 times in total |

Based on this link below, my guess is that it could be a bass bugle.

There's also a simpler version for Caustic 2 (Android, PlayBook, Win). As its sampler, the PCMSytnh, is less sophisticated than Kontakt, it does not have combis, multis and transformed sounds. It has the 37 basic programs and costs $1.30.

Soundfont version added. It has exactly the same samples as the K4 version but of course it does not have the combis, multis and processing that K4 offers. So, for instance, the above video features those sounds specific to the Kontakt 4 version, sounds that are not in the soundfont version even if both use all the same samples.
It sells for $1.30 or it can be bundled it with the Kontakt version for $3.25. Visit this page to get more info and the free demo soundfont: http://lesproductionszvon.com/marching_band_horn.htm Those who bought the Kontakt version before February 9, 2013 can get the soundfont for free on request by emailing me! |

Here's an excerpt of a comment that was made last week on Google Play about the Caustic version of the MBH:
"These horns are perfect for the type of songs that I create. I've used them as a main foreground piece, but I've also found them to be invaluable as the perfect background filler that really just rounds out and completes my tracks." Note that sonically speaking the soundfont version is identical to the Caustic version and the K4 version offers even more. Those who want to read the complete comment, can click HERE. |
