Noob Question about Midi Controllers / Novation Remote SL / Emulator X

Can a Novation Remote SL 25 control standalone Emulator-X Sampler? Been assigning controllers in Automap but am only able to either send program change or play midi keyboard; not both at the same time.
Getting program changes by assigning Automap-Midi as Midi Out Port on SL and Midi IN on the sampler. Knobs move.....but no keyboard commands translate. Assigning Remote-SL as midi input works for keyboard but I can no longer move controllers on sampler. Argh...any tips? DAW is win7 64 bit with e-mu 1820 sound card. :shock:
