User patch format question, and an idea :)

Since I don't want to open a new thread - there more than enough threads already - a few further comments:

In the thread on the latest version the audio compressor is mentioned. On a similar note, I would like to use Mulab's internal compressor effect as it is probably more efficient than an external VST. However, since I am not so familiar with setting the values right, I still resort to my plugin as it has presets with appropriate settings for various instruments and situations. For instance presets for electric bass, drums, vocals, mixdown, etc.
I wish Mulab had a separate compressor category (instead of just listing it within the amp category) with various presets as described above. Just like with the reverb category, where you have various presets.

One thing I don't quite get: I can give my rack presets names, but when I open such a rack, it has a different name. For instance, I just programmed an electric bass on Retrologue, added effects, and saved the whole thing as a rack called E-Bass. When I open such a rack, it is called Retrologue Rack, though.

Is it possible to add those little green LEDs to Mulab rack slots like within the Musynth effect rack? I think it would be more efficient than right clicking a slot and looking for the toggle entry in the menu, or clicking the slot and using a predefined toggle shortcut.

I understand your FR. It touches a conceptual aspect i'm thinking about.

If you want to give a rack an explicit name, you can do so via its context menu. Saving a rack as "Some Name" indeed does not automatically rename the rack.

Hm, what I meant was that I have saved a rack as E-Bass, it is listed as such in the rack browser. So when I open a new session and load such a rack, one might expect that by default it has the name of the rack preset, until I rename it for that session. Well, that is my logic at least

I agree with your logic. In fact that logic is used for many/most object types. But another built-in logic is that a rack is implicitly named like the name of the first plugin in that rack. And that logic rule currently has priority above the other logic rule. I'll think about it, taken note. For now: Eventually explicitly rename the rack beforehand.

Yes, basically I don't have a problem with that. No big deal, as long as I don't forget to rename session racks

For some reason when I save Retrologue or U-NO-LX presets, the name of a patch is not imported into the rack when I load it. With Mulab's own presets that is different, the whole rack and the first slot are named after the preset, not Mux (1), Mux (2) etc. That is what happens with VSTs currently. So I have racks Retrologue (1), Retrologue (2), Retrologue (3) etc., regardless of which preset or rack I pick.

I guess it is synths' internal patch mangers that get in Mulab's way. With simple SE synths without internal patch manager everything works fine. I pick a preset and its name shows up everywhere it should, namely in the Mulab VST window's patch manager (which is left completely blank with Retrologue, Mulab says Retrologue does not have presets) as well as in the first slot of the rack and, oddly, in the rack's name, thus overriding both the VST's name as well as the name I give the rack when saving it
