Is there a practical reason for the Valhalla plugins to steal my spacebar from me when they're in focus? It doesn't seem to do anything except mess up my workflow, but I wouldn't mind so long as it's actually doing something amazing, like making me some toast or fighting the Elder Gods. Also, is there a way that the plugins could not steal my spacebar? In many cases, this is better than toast.
I only ask because I use Shimmer (*drool*) and Room in everything, and every audio program in existence uses the spacebar as 'play'.

Unfortunately, this is one of the not so loveable "quirks" of the Juce framework. I know that there has been a fair amount of discussion about this issue and related issues in the Juce forum, but so far there is no definitive solution.
The semi-good news is that I have been working on AAX ports of the Valhalla plugins, because I LOVE TO SPEND A FEW MONTHS WORKING ON A PLUGIN FORMAT THAT ALLOWS PEOPLE THAT ALREADY USE MY PLUGINS IN PRO TOOLS TO USE MY PLUGINS IN PRO TOOLS. *ahem* This is good news, as I am updating my plugins to the latest and greatest Juce framework, which means that bug fixes can be more easily included in future Valhalla updates.

The AAX part of the porting is going OK. FreqEcho and Room are working in the debug build of Pro Tools. Right now, I am slogging through the Pace copy protection stuff, trying to figure out the "signing" process for AAX. Yes, AAX REQUIRES Pace protection. I'm not moving over to iLok for my plugins (it is hard to overstate how strongly I feel about this as of today), but I need to learn this Pace process for AAX. Mumble, grumble.
I sometimes complain about Juce, especially when it comes to annoying bugs like the keystroke stealing that goes on in various DAWs. However, the Juce AAX wrapper is working really well for me, which saves me the trouble of actually learning this new format that has been foisted on developers by Avid. Juce is being adopted by an increasingly larger number of plugin developers, which gives me hope that these bugs will continue to be addressed over time.
