Hmmmm. I have been demoing Arturia's Spark software deciding if I want the SparkLe with controller, or VDM for $100.00 and use my Akai MPD32(going to do the MPC Stuff pad upgrades Mod) to control it.
I am almost done programming the Akai and have quite a bit of midi learned that takes away most of the mouse work. Pity there is no midi learn for the step seq
I can get going pretty good now creating my beats.
MicroTonic caught my eye when demoing Tremor which was just to CPU intensive, but I noticed Microtonic was 32 bit only.Now with 64 bit available I have another Drum synth to demo, but will ask here what peeps think about Micrtonic vs Spark VDM although I will demo both of them. I should mention I have Fx's "Geist" which is fabulous but only sample based and I want one drum synth that is Analog based. Thanks to JoeCat I just DL'd " Synapse EKS-Pro" so I'll give that a go as well.
I would also like to know how both Customer and Tech support is Sonic Charge vs Arturia?

Sonic Charge is up there with U-He and others when it comes to superlative customer support. Can't go wrong there.

Oh boy this plug is sounding pretty good so far. I have spent a couple hours with it mostly programming/midi learn using the Akai MPD32 and discovered I can pretty much control all controls, notes etc.got it setup about 75% so far. My pads can only sent out midi notes or program change the buttons will but are not velocity sensitive. Looked on the GUI and haven't seen a way to change velocities so rely so far with the accent button might have to automate in my DAW's. Though it isn't trying to emulate any particular hardware Analog box like Arturia You can really tweak the sound to get a wide variance of the 8 sounds. I don't know but this one might actually sound better than Spark VDM even though it has more emulations.
One drawback is the 16 step limitation, but perhaps Geist can help in that department with it.
Like I said above kind of digging it's punchy sound and tweakabilty.
So at least I have some time to give both Drum VI's a decent trial run.

Health comes first, but if it were me I would enjoy making music with sound and tools that I like as I am one that lives for today. If I quit making music for the reason you stated I would rather look back at the fun I had and any body of work I've done to be proud of and not worry about resale Good times, good music are and can be very pleasant memories. Surprised that Magnus or Frederik didn't email you back. AFAIK they don't offer resales, but if you lost your hearing I wouldn't doubt they'd treat you right. They're solid guys.

I see that uTonic has either C/R or offline serial #'s. I need to understand if going either route will allow you to re-authorize if you re-format or you drive gives up the ghost and if you move to another machine or could have your main DAW with it and on a Laptop(2 machines at a time). I guess I'll contact them but if anyone here knows how this copy protection scheme exactly works, please share this info.

Here again I feel for you Bro, I know this stuff is out of our hands in most cases, but I'd rather be blind then deaf as I couldn't deal with not enjoying music. Wonder how Beethoven did his work after the fact.

might as well come clean. truth is, i was one of the first people to buy microtonic back in 2004 but, like an idiot, i sold it when the license transfer policy was offered because well, im not really sure. no reason other then being uninspired with music. but now that im really enjoying writing music now, im extremely bitter that i sold it. apologies for taking that bitterness out on microtonic. microtonic is an awesome drum synth and i really love it due to it simple but deep programing if i steered anybody in the wrong direction, i suggest just trying out the demo i think you will love it. so yeah, cats out of the bag

Well... at least you did it to microtonic... around the same time, I did that to Kurzweil K2500.
