This doesn't directly have to do with u-he, but perhaps it could control a u-he synth? Since most of you guys must be keyboard players, I thought this would interest some of you (Roger Linn, the digital drum machine inventor, sent me a link to this):

Any thoughts?

From what I can tell, the price has yet to be announced. Not even sure if it transmits MIDI.

It looks fascinating but I'd guess it could be very expensive.
I would also need to feel how it is to play on neoprene - could feel weird after a while.
But I sure like the concept
Cheers,
Tom

Looks interesting.. I wonder how does the material feel despite it's rubbery look.

This kind of thing appeals to a lot of players looking for new takes on the 88's.
Sadly, I hear its rather pricey ($1,500-$2,000 or more?) and spongy to play.
Quite a number players wouldn't mind a smaller, cheaper version (I sure would enjoy a new smooshy, expressive set of keys)... but short production runs of polymer-based products are shockingly expensive to do.
I teach a class in molding and casting... if it's foam, it's a pain in the BUTT to mold something this big consistently. You need a lot of gear, good molds & good materials.
Oh and good electronics

I've pre-ordered a QuNexus. While not exactly the same it has some overlap and is at a much lower ($150) price point. I'm looking forward to trying it when it arrives...

Roger Linn is working on something vaguely similar, but the keys are laid out much more differently than a traditional keyboard:

The QuNexus seems rather reasonably priced.

There are so many cool controllers these days, hopefully they'll become more affordable quick.

What, Rodger Linn... is RIPPING OFF Madrona Labs "SoundPlane"??!!
Oh poor Randy. He was prepping a new run too.

(I just hope they differ QUITE A BIT in function... this is just too close for pure coincidence.)

I love the Madrona Labs one. The materials are so beautiful and I'm sure it's a pleasure to work with it - much more a "real instrument" as the foam keyboard - , but I guess if you don't make serious money with your music, this is out of most peoples ballpark...
Not sure about the copy-bit - this kind of layout is there for quite a while and the linn one has several layouts to choose from...
Ableton Push uses the same principle. It's said to be very powerful after you get used to it but I never actually tried one of these layouts.
Cheers,
Tom
