I just switched studio desks and at present don't have room for the Maschine controller. I found a nice way to use the software I hadn't thought of.

1. I fired up the Maschine VSTi in Reaper and picked a kit I liked.

2. Used step edit in Machine to click together some patterns I liked.

3. Used drag and drop to render the patterns to audio, but instead of keeping them in Maschine, dropped right onto an audio track timeline in Reaper.

The result? Quick and dirty instant loop creation. I leave the Maschine VSTi open, but keep that track muted.

It's an expensive way to work, but at least I'm getting mileage out of the Maschine kits while I don't have room for the controller.

Yeah, you got to find what works for you. I don't use Maschine controller fully, at least not for sequencing. I think the mouse is faster. I downsized to a Mikro and don't mind one bit.

Somewhere on the NI forum there is a link to a zip containing all Maschine's factory patterns saved individually about 500-1000 patterns.

Great for loading up a kit and selecting random patterns. If you want it, just pm me.

Oh wow! Thanks a lot guys! I'm recovering from a nasty car wreck on Friday (sandwiched in my little Toyota between 2 SUVs) and this will definitely help me pass the time.

I like to add a pattern, switch the notes from sound to sound (eg. put the high hat on a Conga/Bongo/any percussive, snare on a kick or vocal, etc). Also try shifting the pattern over/back 1/4 bar. I find this whole process can be inspiring/creative and great for getting over writers block!

Maschine just became more useful
