Multiple Midi Outputs in Fruity Loops

I recently got an emu proteus 2000 and wanted to use it with fruity loops. I would like to output a song through to my Proteus through multiple channels. I am running into a problem, however. Each channel within Fruity lsd I have assigned the right port number. However, whenever I switch between channel output numbers within fruity lsd, they will all output to the same channel (sound) to the proteus, even though the channel number for each channel (in Fruity LSD) is different. If I make a change in the instrument in one channel, it changes the sound for all the channels (but the channel number stays the same for all of the other channels). I looked on the proteus and I assigned each channel a different instrument in the first place, so it's not like I am assigning the same instruments to all channels on the poteus accidentally. Also, it seems as though when one channel is panned in the fruity lsd, all of the other channels (or at least what they are outputting) also pans exactly the same, even though the panning for each channel within the fruity lsd stays the same. Does anyone know how I could fix this? Any help would be appreciated!

I was able to figure out the problem. My proteus wasn't in multi-mode. However, I am running into another problem which has to do with the preset instrument on each midi channel. I'll change it in the middle of the song, but when I restart, it reverts back to what was originally on the midi file. However, I would like to be able to change the channel assigned to the midi file. I found a way to do it by editing the "patch" number within the browser window, which brings me to a screen where I draw out the midi event. However, this seems like a difficult way just to change the patch number, is there an easier way?
