hence the name "bored of canada"

More seriously I think being bored is not a bad thing at all!
Something we considere as bad nowadays but is called meditation in other cultures

For me, the beauty of Boards of Canada is the nostalgia that informs their music. Back in the 1980's, I used to love going to animation festivals, and the most inspiring pieces were always produced with grants from the Film Board of Canada. Most were accompanied by strange, avant garde electronic music scores. Later on in the mid 90's, I got into this weekly thing called Cine16, where they screened scratchy, warbly old educational films on 16mm in the smokey basement of a San Jose restaurant. All of this is encapsulated in BoC's music... the memory of another time and place. With a nice groove.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

I find Daft Punk boring sometimes, but then I realize it's just the intellectual part of my brain playing tricks on me. (that said, bit sick of hearing about their new album!)

To me all the BOD tracks are very inspiring and tell a story of the past, their composition, flow and organic quality is what I like about them. Can't wait for the new Album.

Love it, love it, love it, love it!

For years BOC has always been on my "doing art" playlist as it's very easy to feel like you're day-dreaming when listening to them. (likewise for any long rail journey or flight, just watching the pretty scenery go by)

BOC is a panacea for beauty in a stinky ocean of thoughtless cookie-cutter wub wub thump thump shite.

Why only 4min58 why???
This track should be 12 minutes long
Let's hope it's the radio edit :P

There's minimalism and then there's m-i-n-i-m-a-l-i-s-m. IMO, Boards of Canada fall into the latter catagory. I like there stuff, but there's some minimalistic compositions that stone the sh*t out of me, and then there's some that I have to be stoned to really enjoy. Ya know what I mean?

All in all new BOC is OK. Reminds me a bit of Geogaddi, Reach for the dead is a very nice track, but there are also some labored tracks, that could maybe have been left in the cupboard? The album lacks stand out tracks like Roygbiv or a In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country

Post

yes, no stand out tracks (except Reach for the dead maybe)
But a very coherent album
I loved it.
I've been listening to the live stream in my bed (on my AKG) and is was something.

Love it, v nice indeed.
