Actually i wondered about the german labels too, seemed like some missing translation to me, but then, they advertise it as "Made in germany", like Waldorf, so that might be the reason for it.

These guys make some really good synths and effects, but their marketing and some design choices? Pleh!

Hypertwist technology? Really? Come on, just tell me what the deuce it does. Is it a flanger? Chorus? Bitcrusher? Secret blend of seven herbs and DSP blocks? It's almost like they're saying "And this is the BIG RED BUTTON! It makes your sounds go WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE and can spontaneously generate sexual intercourse with either gender!"

And you can keep things under wraps without this kind of black box terminology. If it's a trade secret, mentioning a breif outline of what it is isn't going to give the game away as the devil's in the details surely?

Price is still €29, so not 100 copies sold yet?

Post

Well, who is to control that anyway? I doubt they will sell 100 copies of that ever, but they can always say they have sold 100 copies to avoid the impression of failure ;)

Yeah, but the intro price of €29 is for the first 100 copies. Buyer no. 101 need to pay full price €44

So as long as the price is €29 at the site, my thinking is that Buyer 101 is yet to be found ;)

Post

Yes, and that will likely be the case for the next 3 years :D

Is that synth hand-coded or built from modules? If the latter is true, 44 Euros is a ridiculous price anyway. Add 5 and you get Retrologue :D

Post

Ok, so I checked out the synth. Forgive me for being rude, and this is kinda rude, but the hypertwist knob appears to be a flatulence generator. It's a random derpy burble that could find it's way into maybe one sound in two hundred. The other two myetery knobs appear to be a bass and treble EQ, though there may be more going on.

Personally, I much prefer their other synths. Renegade and the acid bass synth they did had a really nice saturation knob. This synth doesn't seem to add anything to that formula but only takes away and adds stuff I don't need.

Renegade was OK, I bought it a long time ago, but I would not buy it again, though. They should focus on quality and maybe improve Renegade. I remember telling them what needs improvement, but nothing ever happened.
I am a bit tired of all those mediocre synths that don't really add anything that has not already been done by others, and usually way better. Makes me wonder if those "developers" are even observing the market, noticing how far ahead others already are. If you aren't as good as or better than the renowned ones out there, there is no point in throwing yet another mediocre thing on the market, hoping a couple of fools will buy it.

Regarding the German terms, maybe they did that on purpose, thinking they could benefit from the good reputation Germans have on the synth market...

I haven't actually been able to make the registered version play a sound at all, because it is impossible to get beyond the "registration" screen (it seems to make no attempt to store registration info anywhere). The only way I've managed to hear this is via the demo, which is not really suitable for live performance.

I haven't found a way to open a support ticket or file a bug on this broken junk, and until I can do that, I suggest you don't buy.

Intro price still at €29, not yet 100 customers?

Post

What SynthMaker?

Where did you get this information? Based just on price and GUI?

For what is worth I really like this synth as it sounds different from any other synth I've used and it complements my other tools including analogs (like the Juno 106, JP8, Evolver, Tempest) very well.

So before you diss a synth based on price looks and marketing first try it.

Really cool stuff coming but if you guys don't realize this maybe people will stop putting them out and everything is going to be marketed like a "vintage analog poly synth recreation" blah...

Just demo this wonderful cutting synth and then comment.

Price is still €29, so not 100 copies sold yet?
And price lowered further to €26,40 :o

It's tempting, but as I have Renegade from the same developers, I'm not sure if I need this.

Post

I liked and bought. I have fun with it.

Two minor requests for the developer:
1. Somekind of tabs intestead of dropdown menus would be better when you want to switch between fx panel and mainpanel.

2. Fx on/off knobs to main panel or possibity adjust fx amount like in some tone2 synths.

Apparently not 100 have been sold yet, as the intro price is still on :?
