Nice Plugins, thanks MAGIX and BEAT!!!
First I had problems registering Vandal SE in Reaper.
I clicked on the blue "register..." letters and nothing happened.
Then I ran the plug with savihost and by klicking on the blue letters again, it took me to a site where I could register.
Cheers!

So does that eliminate the random bypassing?

For some reason the Registration box for vandal doesn't appear in all hosts, FL Studio for example. I had to open Vandal in Energy XT 2 for the registration box to appear. Once you register the plugin it no longer cuts out.IrionDaRonin wrote:I think this is the SE edition, and runs this way.eidenk wrote:I am on an old unsupported system and I couldn't run the installers but I managed to unpack them and both plugins run fine.
I have got one problem however, Vandal SE is in demo mode (bypasses a few seconds every few seconds), the plugin asks me to register on displaying its GUI but it doesn't tell me where.
Is the registration process automated through the installer or does it just give you an url to go to with the browser to get a key file by email? In the latter case I'd appreciate if someone could tell me the address so I could register it.
And yes, there are only 32bit plugs in there (which is fine by me).
I uninstalled it already, i don't need it.
Maybe you could register it here. The full version costs 149,00 € plus VAT.

Thanks but no, seems like the registration runtime in the _bin folder is incompatible with my system so I guess I am toast for this one. Looks like the license could be tied to hardware ID anyway so no big deal.chuck death wrote:For some reason the Registration box for vandal doesn't appear in all hosts, FL Studio for example. Malware Bytes just alerted me of an Heuristics.Shuriken malware located in the AM_Track_SE_de-DE_setup application. Is this a false positive or something?

I didn't have a problem with it. I have Malwarebytes too, the free one.bailees7irish wrote:Malware Bytes just alerted me of an Heuristics.Shuriken malware located in the AM_Track_SE_de-DE_setup application. Is this a false positive or something?
Anyway, the best thing would be to install everything in a sandbox and see what installation does, just in case.

Actually, I'm ditching Vandal too, since posting I've now found out that although Vandal is now showing as authorised in Energy XT and Reaper, it still pops up the unregistered box in FL Studio. This registration system is just too much effort to get working properly!eidenk wrote:Thanks but no, seems like the registration runtime in the _bin folder is incompatible with my system so I guess I am toast for this one. Is the link to register on the GUI? I can't see anything indicating registration after the pop-up box in either Reaper or VSTHost.
"musician."

Sounds like too many registration problems for a free plug.
If it's truly free, then just give us a dll.
I think developers really shoot themselves in the foot when they "give away" something that has this many issues during registration. It doesn't bode well for the full plugin.
It certainly doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling about purchasing the paid version.

What the h...hype about AM Track SE?? It was already given away for free in 2007, so it's quite old...
And what should I do with a compressor without RATIO control?

It's a pretty good compressor with a distinctive sound and transient shaping behaviour.Tricky-Loops wrote:What the h...hype about AM Track SE?? It was already given away for free in 2007, so it's quite old...![]()

I don't know what you would do with a compressor without a ratio but I would dial the knobs until it sounds good...
And as I stated my other post (from Sascha Eversmeier (I believe it's the coder/developer of it)):
"Some tips, while I'm at it: this thing's got an ultra smooth knee, the ratio depends greatly on the input signal, be it volume or envelope. A common habit with fb compressors applies to am-track as well: when you measure its static transition curve, it looks more like 4:1 compression. But on the transients, it'll compress a lot more, or even limit or squash the peaks. This is true until the FET as the gain control device (as a voltage divider) gets saturated; its nonlinear behaviour and its slew rate limits the transient (and later the steady-state) response in a way that very loud passages make the compression slope go back to 1:1. This beast is highly interactive."
So the drive and the ATT/REL knobs define the Ratio though it's pretty source related.
Cheers,
Sebastian

Dang,
I ended up buying the Beat version just for Vandal and that never worked and then ended up buying a Keys version just for Vandal. Since when has this been a free download?
