How do you choose names for synth patches?

How to make that sound...

Well, I am by no means a diligent sound designer (I wouldn't even dare to call me that), but once in a while I like to create some synth sounds and I am always not sure how to name them - should I name them after their sound, then I'd know how the patches sound just by looking at the name but end up one day with "Dark Pad 47" or "Deep Bass 78", or should I choose whatever name comes into my mind at the moment, then I end up with names like "Frogs on Steroid", "Öuh" or "Fluffy Ice bear", but of course I would have no idea what they sound like a week later.

Granted, this is not the most pressing problem I have and I get by , but I am just curious how other people get to their patch names - especially people who release their creations into the wild (for money or fame).

Hello!
Try to name them in some sense way. For example bass - it can be more pluckier
normal full(full sustain), off like kick agains bass, pad bass, bass gritt etc. If something comes to Your mind to desribe them its ok but it needs to be done in way like You know what that patch can sounds like few days later. Maybe You have heard it in some kind of track...so You can put name of track or artist. I usually name them in that ways.
