Hearing a lot of bad things about the MiniLab...

I was really looking forward to picking up one of these but there are so many reports of the encoders working way too slow in plug-in mode with Analog Lab plug-in, or the encoders barely moving things when midi learned to controls, or the software just constantly crashing DAWs like Logic and Ableton Live.
It all sounds quite bad. The worst part is there has been no answer from any Arturia rep anywhere these have been reported, such as the ARturia forum:
http://www.arturia.com/evolution/smf/in ... oard=103.0
Are these issues being looked at? It seems sort of shocking that the thing could be released with issues so obvious as this.

So are the encoder issues user error? Or is there something wrong? Are the crashes of the MiniLab software being addressed? What's with the total silence on both this forum and the Arturia forum from Arturia people?

Ok great to hear. I haven't bought it yet but was really looking forward to it. I am just waiting to hear that the issues have been resolved. Thanks for answering.

I really hope the fix is that soon. I had already delayed purchasing a mini controller with the hope that the Minilab would be a category killer. If it's not fixed within the above time parameters, I'll probably just go out and get the Akai model.

Apparently an update did come out last week and solved some issues, however reports are that it has caused some more, like high cpu usage and other instability.

Well I tried the demo of 1.03. Seemed ok one day with my firewire audio interface. But just played it a bit with my inbuilt soundcard on my macbook pro and it's unusable. Pops and clicks everywhere. Arturia you guys need to get your act together with these buggy analog lab/laboratory releases.

Hi everyone,I bought the Arturia Mini-lab when it came out and have encountered endless problems along the way! I have contacted Arturia several times regarding the many issues but they are very slow to respond as mentioned before on this forum. What's is more frustrating than anything is dealing with Arturia's technical support team and their the lack of engagement with the forums and their poor follow-through regarding the many problems.
Currently I have installed their latest firmware but the update did not fix any of the problems. Here are a list of ongoing problems:
- Poor encoder response.
- Pops and crackles.
- Stuck notes on some of their patches.
- Repeated USB recognition problems with Windows
- Crashes as a stand alone mode and as VST.
On the other hand I love this product as it offers a lot for the price, such as 5000 presets and attractive keyboard. I wish that Arturia resolves the many problems it faces with this product.

+1 for edpdx's problems.
I'm using windows and the Minilab's encoder response has been utter hell for me. I'm more interested in using it as a general midi controller than for the Analog Lab. I'm only interested in being able to click "Learn MIDI" on ANY virtual knob on ANY virtual instrument I have, and I'll be very happy. Alas, that's not to be.
Even after making sure the encorder settings are "Absolute", the encoders are still very poor, and the response doesn't even follow the way I turn it! I can't even do LIVE stuff, and yet this product is supposed to be used "LIVE".
The encoders on my old M-Audio 1st Gen Oxygen 8 work WAY smoother and faster than the Arturia Minilab!
I hope audio manufacturers are also testing their products on Windows, and not only just Mac...do not assume that all musicians/audio people "ONLY" use Mac...not going into that PC vs MAC crap again, but seriously...

Keylab and Minilab were released far too early. The software/firmware is just way too immature. I should have known better and waited, but I bought a keylab 61. Wish I hadn't.

Kevin maybe you should take on board all the bugs listed here:Kevin [Arturia] wrote:Hi,

I still can't load the full SEM into it despite updates to SEM and A Lab.

I can recommend that anybody thinking of buying the Minilab should wait until the problems are fixed (if they get fixed), it's barely usable in the current state, mainly due to the weird encoder behavior.

I am so sorry to hear this about Arturia MIDI controllers. Speaking of which, do The Laboratory MIDI controllers suffer from the same encoders/rotary pots being too slow issue as the KeyLab and MidiLab controllers? Couldn't you just update the firmware with new parameters for tuning the sensitivity of encoders?
btw. is the keybed the same in both old and these new MIDI keyboards?
I'm torn apart between getting The Laboratory, KeyLab-49 or Akai Max49. I am considering getting a 61 keys keyboard so then Max is out of the equation... but if Arturia keyboards have issues like these, Max would do just fine.

Minilab's encoders are defectives, whatever knob, mode, or software you use;
and Arturia knows it since day one judging by the various messages posted on the internet.
A serious company would have pull off a such defective product, but Arturia prefers to keep selling it!
Thats a fraud and i suggest buyers to regroup and start class-actions against Arturia in the United States and Europe.
