Why do the BD's in Tremor sound so distant?

Do you find this "distant" when using pitch as well as resonance based kicks?

I agree with the OP: Tremor doesn't lend itself to particularly punchy bass patches. But, "horses for courses", as they say. I handle drums with a combination of Tremor (for its *awesome* modulation) and Maschine (for its "crispness"). They compliment each other quite well. You could also use Stylus RMX or any number of other sample-based drum synths.
I do think Tremor can be used to good effect. Example: https://soundcloud.com/jrice/variable-tensions ...but here I was going for a lazy, rounded sound. If I want something snappier, I use Maschine: https://soundcloud.com/jrice/left-behind ...Most of the time, though, I use both.
[shrug]
The thing is, workflow SUCKS with Maschine in Live. :\ (And the Maschine workflow is even worse.)
I'll also agree with whomever mentioned Drummatik. ...I'm on a Mac now, but when I was composing on a PC, that was my go-to kick generator. Really nice.
I'll ALSO also say that kicks are something worth synthesizing in any number of your VSTs: they usually do kicks quite well. I've had success with Diva, Omnisphere, Massive, Surge, ElectraX, Sylenth, and, surprisingly, D-CAM Strobe... which you might think would be very similar to Tremor. :)

I'm not familiar with Drumatic, but have you tried Drumspillage? Or the freeware Minispillage if you just want kicks?Introspective wrote:I'll also agree with whomever mentioned Drummatik. ...I'm on a Mac now, but when I was composing on a PC, that was my go-to kick generator. Really nice.

For Live using Operator for kicks, this tutorial rocks

Minispillage is great for kicks. but not available in the VST format.
Drumatic will be ready for OSX very soon.
Punch is the best for kicks tho, by FAAAR. Except for the Attack parameter of the synth which goes from 0ms to 1ms and misses out on a range of click timbres. Microtonic is the easiest in my opinion, and sounds awesome, but generally requires external processing to bring the best in kicks. again - In my opinion.

Yeah, I recommended it since Drumatic isn't available for Os X, as an alternative.sqigls wrote:Minispillage is great for kicks. but not available in the VST format.

But will Drumatic be ported to Mac? That's great news, looking forward to it. Have been searching for it, but couldn't get any results, so figured it was out of the question.

Please post some files (WAVs). That's what I've asked you for in the other thread. I assume you will post synthesised kicks only - no samples - as both Punch and Metrum use sample layers and Tremor doesn't.TheoM wrote: I am used to metrum and punch. tremor can't do the kicks of metrum. Here's a kick I was working on in Tremor.
https://soundcloud.com/peterdines/assykick2
Listening back, it might need a bit more sub. I was concentrating on getting an upfront punch.

Punch can load samples, but why would you, the kicks are so slamming.himalaya wrote:...both Punch and Metrum use sample layers and Tremor doesn't.

Nice kick! Yeah, you've got a very nice 'peppery' mid-punch there. I've used a similar sound in this beat, although my kick is very different to yours:~Pd~ wrote: Listening back, it might need a bit more sub. I was concentrating on getting an upfront punch.

no, as in the default sound in Punch is tighter than that.
tremor can sound nice, but there's a tightness that it just cant deliver.
the envelopes are too floppy or something
maybe the density of the oscillators?
