I'll double thatBERFAB wrote:Waves' doubler is frequently on sale or bundled nicely with other stuff. An amazing palette of flavors in the included presets for getting a nice fat sound out of any mono/solo sound.
chorder / unison / detuner / etc. plugins for beefing up a monosynth?

ReaPitch comes free with Reaper and the Elastique algos are so much better than any freewares I've tried. Then you can add the internal Reaper LFO to modulate the pitch in cents and you have one hell of a doubler or whatever. Now imagine multiple instances of the synth each one with different pitch shifting and panning
I know you're on Cubase and you want something more auto, but I wanted to mention this regardless.

And what I especially like about their pitch shifter (beside the time stretching algos) is the great FORMANT control...it really can bring sounds to life!

Thanks to everybody for the replies so far! I've caught a nasty cold and can't stand to look at a computer screen for more than a couple of minutes at a time, but once I get over it I'll do some research on all of these wonderful suggestions.
Just to clear things up for some people, I'm talking about using a hardware synth, so I can't really "double up" an instance of it (which is why I want something that can double it up at a different pitch).
Thanks again, and more replies are certainly welcome! I'll post my thoughts on some of these after I get better and have a chance to demo them.

I've chained various MDA Detune VST instances on a single osc sound once, and the result was amazingly phat!
Maybe you could try it and see if it suits your needs.

Heh, you're right. However, you can always make multiple copies of the track.concealed identity wrote:Just to clear things up for some people, I'm talking about using a hardware synth, so I can't really "double up" an instance of it (which is why I want something that can double it up at a different pitch).
I'll be curious about what you end up doing with your hardware synth lines and maybe some audios

Thanks again to everyone for their recommendations! I tried out a couple of the free ones and demos (don't remember which ones at the moment) but think I might splash on Harmony Engine next time I have money and it's on sale. For some reason the mda one, which I liked the most, didn't work in realtime- I would have to disable and enable it anytime I changed any of the parameters.
@cosmosis, I used it pretty simply in this case, just to make the pad melody in this track: https://soundcloud.com/cloak-and-dagger ... r-ice-cold

One of the design goals of ValhallaÜberMod was to thicken up hardware/software monosynths, via multi-voice chorus, ensemble, what have you.
Here's an example that shows the chorusing on a simple 1 VCO monosynth (the Korg Monotribe). The bass line uses an 8 voice chorus, while the other voices use weirder presets:

This example shows how reverb and chorusing/ensemble can be combined in the same ÜberMod preset:
