1. Denial — "I did not just buy that."
2. Anger — "Goddammit, I am such a tool. Why did I do such a stupid thing? It's never going to work with the kind of music I make!"
3. Bargaining — "Maybe I can tell them it's defective and I can get my money back."
4. Depression — "What does it matter anyway? Everything I do is peepee kaka anyway. New gear isn't going to help."
5. Acceptance — "Oh well, maybe I can do some stuff with this anyway. Let me start a new track and take this bad boy out for a spin."

This sounds like roughly 95% of my software purchases, with the following thought inserted somewhere:
"It's just software. It's worth absolutely nothing to anyone else."

6. Divorce: "Let's sell it in the Market Place"
7. Regretting: "Some said that it's so great. Maybe I need it some day. I'll redraw it!"
8. Reasoning: "But I need the money. Let's sell it again"
9. Circuit-Bending: "Let's begin at point 6!"

Tbh, if one has the money to throw away on this game - and to continue doing so - then subsequent grief or guilt etc is just a load of bollocks.
(I take the point that this thread is light-hearted)
Research or demo products before you buy them.
Enjoy what you've bought. If you don't use it as much as you wish then either forget about it or sell it.

Thought I would use the M-Audio Trigger Finger for playing drums easy

But it actually could and can be a handy live midi controller for effect parameters and other things.

For me, its more like:
1. Wow! Look at that ad for that amazing, new, magical thing! If I had that, I'd be able to make the most amazing music.
2. Okay, I ordered it! I just hope I can contain my excitement and don't give myself a heart attack while waiting for it to arrive.
3. It's here! Time to open up the box...
4. Oh. Its just a thing.
5. Go to 1.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.
